Per the OP:

Spencer Warren told investigators he and Splichal has been debating the “21-foot rule” and were going to see how close Splichal could get to Warren before Warren could fire his gun. Warren says he emptied his .357 revolver but did not fully clear it. When Splichal lunged toward him to test the theory, Warren squeezed the trigger twice, firing 1 round into Splichal’s chest.

I have no words for how bloody retarded this is.

Criminal charges were filed against that cop. Last I knew the case was still pending. Oh, he thought it was "unloaded" or he was using "blanks." Stupid knows no bounds--even some cops are guilty of it.
I’d forgotten about that one!

It was a bad move.
Has your ear stopped ringing yet?

Lesson learned. I’ve never again acted like a ninny with a firearm. I recall a thread on this site a long time ago......heck, it may even have been me who started it.....asking how many of us had ever had a ND. The number is higher than you would expect.

Where this moron went wrong was in agreeing to point a firearm at another human being for any other reason than trying to shoot him....or making ready to do so. I would personally feel weird doing that, even with a blue plastic dummy gun. I just won’t do it. The moron in the article should have either.

FIRST TWO RULES OF GUN SAFETY:
1. All firearms are loaded, all the time.
2. Never point a firearm at something you’re not willing to destroy.

He violated both. Even my own unbelievable dumb ND happened with the pistol pointed in a safe direction.
