Well, I admit that I hadn't considered public funding of private schools, and I can see your point.Charles L. By the way, we would also find out if campus carry causes parents to send their kids to private schools that opt out, instead of public schools where campus carry is mandated.

Because the rating is based in part on how they answer the NRA's questionnaire, not just on their voting record.steveincowtown wrote:mojo84 wrote:I think he has it set up so others do his dirty work so he doesn't have to vote on record for things he doesn't like.
This is always the arguement from the NRA, that they only rate based on voting. Then why does Wendy Davis have and "F" which she voted "Yea" on School Marshalls, Guns in cars on campus, and the expansion of firearms manufacturing in Texas?

At some point before this session someone from the NRA really needs to have a "come to Jesus" meeting with Straus and let him know if he continues his antics he will no longer have an "A" rating.

20 years ago, I would have agreed with you. I'll stand by my absolute statement today. 20 years in the future, it could be wrong again. But right here and now, it is spot on.thechl wrote:Of course, absolute statements are always wrong.
I've been a democrat. I've been a republican. I am neither now. But if I had to let the country "fall into the hands" of one or the other party, I'd go with the republicans.......even though I don't have a lot of respect for the party's leadership. But I have ZERO respect for democrat politicians........who are universally dirty liars.

Re: Joe Straus
As bad as Strauss is, there is never anything to be gained by giving a seat to a democrat.thechl wrote:As I headed out to vote today it occurred to me that the way to defeat Strauss as Speaker is to not have him re-elected into the House. It pains me to vote for a Democrat, but in this case it might be the only way to 'win.' San Antonio is lost to Democrats already; and even if Strauss loses to a Democrat the Republicans will still hold the House by a large majority!
So, if you're in his distrct and plan to vote...
