Re: Pro Gun Rally (Gun Rescue)
That was funny! I also liked that other t-shirt that said, "raise your right arm if you like gun-control," with the picture of Adolf doing his best Sieg Heil!AndyC wrote:I have the whole thing - I'll upload it now.The Annoyed Man wrote:I wish that one of us had gotten video of Pastor Broden. I've also added what was on the back of my sweat-shirt to CafePress (just in case) - along with an AK47 variant ;)

Re: Pro Gun Rally (Gun Rescue)
Andy, the first guy was Pastor Stephen Broden (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Broden). The second guy was Bishop John L. Lawson (http://lawsonfor23.com/about/)
Bishop Lawson just sent me this youtube video link of his speech in an email I just got from him. Here it is:

I think the Bishop's daughter must have shot the video on her cellphone. I wish that one of us had gotten video of Pastor Broden. Both of these men are something special.

Actually, the CBS local's report was fairly unbiased.G26ster wrote:I'm shocked! The media is anti gun. Go figure. The Annoyed Man wrote:Just saw the Fox News coverage on channel 4. Couldn't have been more negatively reported.

Re: Pro Gun Rally (Gun Rescue)
I see my son in the gray sweatshirt near the back of the crowd on the left side of the picture, and the guy who is standing behind him in the orange shirt, closest to the camera on the left, is the elderly gentleman who collapsed at the end of the 2nd speech.
I don't see myself in the photo, so I must have been talking to you while you took the picture.
Anyway, I think it was a successful event. It wasn't a gigantic turnout, but I'm guessing we had a total of 50 or 60 folks at a time there during most of it. It seems like maybe 15-20 guns or more got sold. Given that it was organized mere days before the event and operated on a shoestring budget, I think it was very successful.
I had a chance to meet jotus and a couple of others for the first time. Of course, AndyC was there and we go back a little ways. The speakers were excellent, and it was encouraging to me specifically to see such outspoken support for the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment from the ranks of African-American clergymen. It further cemented my belief that conservatism/libertarianism is truly the only post-racial movement in the country, whereas liberals use racism to divide us as Americans
The contact between potential buyers and those whom we were successful in diverting to our gathering was nothing if not friendly and respectful. Those who sold their guns on our side of the street were all applauded and thanked for allowing our group to rescue their guns.
There was one lady from the church buy-back folks who kept running up to potential buyers and telling them that our group was trying to buy guns to "sell them back onto the streets," which of course was a blatant lie. She did not represent her church or her Lord very well......unless she serves the king of lies. Our group deliberately refrained from any kind of confrontational behavior. And as I am typing this, I just saw myself on TV! LOL.

Re: Pro Gun Rally (Gun Rescue)
My wife and I had planned to go to Austin, but if we're unable to go for whatever reason, you can count on us to come to your event. Also, I own a website design and hosting business. I can't get you a full service site up and running by next weekend, simply because I already have a lot of other work to finish right now. But if you need help with it down the road, I would be happy to help out. PM me if you're interested in talking to me about it.jotus wrote:Moby wrote:Do you have a website (or can one be wipped up I? can put this on some socail media sites.
I think that's a great idea.
Let me make some calls, I was going to Austin's 2A.
but this is closer and more personal.
It's a shame a church does understand protecting freedom and worship are pretty closely related.
Quickly made a website. Its a little crude, but it will get better.
