When I moved here last year, I got hit with the "Welcome to Texas!" New Resident Tax of $90. Not a good way to attract people to move here when you nickel and dime them to death.
We traded in the wife's Escalade in October and got hit with a couple grand in sales taxes. We already paid tax on the darn thing in Virigina. We didn't buy it here. But because we were trading it in, we got whacked anyways. :banghead:
Don't get me wrong, I love my new home. Few places I'd choose to live besides here.
But I wish Texas was as free as everyone pretends it is.
Not trying to be rude, but I honestly have no idea what you guys are talking about. Nobody taxed me for anything when I moved here, as far as I can recall (which isn't far :???: ). After we got here, we sold a used pickup truck to somebody which we had purchased in California. Did all the paperwork right, and we never got taxed anything on the sale.

Did I get overlooked? :oops:
