I've been hacked twice before on my board, both times back in about 2002-2003 or so, and once on a Joomla site back in 2007. It is the Internet equivalent of rape. I think rapists ought to be neutered, publicly, and then hanged. Hackers deserve the same. I have zero sympathy for them. They are not human. They give no quarter or mercy. They deserve none in return.

The only way to protect yourself is to make sure that your site's security protocols are always up to date, that your posting editor does not permit use of HTML or allow a malicious poster to inject any kind of code using the editor, and do a regular, at least daily, backup of your database. The more frequent your backups, the fewer posts will be lost.
