Reminds me of story of my aunt and uncle (which I think I've told on this forum before) who are both anti-gun/anti-violence (her more than him)once confronted an actual burglar who was sneaking in their bedroom window while they slept.

My dad once told me that fighting a war had made him into a confirmed pacifist. But one night at a dinner party, a drunk male guest slapped my mom, and before anyone else could stop him, my dad cleared the dinner table and had the guy pinned on his back with his knee in his throat. The next morning, I said, "Dad, what were you going to do to him?" He said, "I was trying to kill him, but others pulled me off him before I could get it done."
That taught me the difference between "pacifism," as in I just want to live in peace, and "PACIFISM," as in go ahead and kill me.
