If I could carry it, I think a good semi-auto .50 BMG would be a great anti-zombie weapon. Just watch the besieged town from atop a hill a mile away and pick off the undead one-by-one. Sure the rounds are like $5 each, but $5 per zombie is not too much price to pay to rid the world of such a scurge.
The best use for a .50 BMG in a zombie attack is if you can get them lined up 10 or 15 deep. Then you can really take advantage of the penetration of the .50 - putting down zombies a dozen at a time with each shot. Now. . . .if you can just figure out a way to get the zombies to participate in this efficiency study.
