The last time I was at Quail Creek (October 2006?), it was to confirm zero on scoped "hand cannon" prior to elk hunt. There was a 50 yard bench that was just about right for my use with .454 7 1/2" Ruger SRH and some hot 45 Colt ammo.
A buddy had gone with me and wanted to try the Ruger on adjacent 100 yard rifle range with some full blown .454 Hornady loads. After buddy finished the first cylinder, an old guy on the bench next to us came over and asked "What is that thing? Every time you lit one of those off, I thought my nose was going to bleed!" He probably went home, got on the internet and called us idiots.

Re: Never going to QUAIL CREEK again!
"all you can shoot"
Sorry, such (especially in 3-4 hour sessions on weekends) could make limited space unavailable for primary purposes (like training and testing and other members' practice).

Re: Never going to QUAIL CREEK again!
"for anybody to require me to take one of their classes to shoot I thought was a little overboard."
"Everything from the macho guys that want their girl friends to shoot their .357 as there first shot to the reservist that came up there in uniform last week with two colt six guns and thought he was a cowboy."
