It is indeed. I pointed out in another thread that solid majorities of the House and Senate had joined Sen. Huchison's amicus brief. I have to think those majorities would not repeat the mistakes of the 1960s-90s. Every year at least one more state has shall-issue concealed-carry, state pre-emption, etc.. The antis are starting to look more like a lunatic fringe. Only a few "old bulls" (some of them female) in Congress keep the "gun control" movement from withering completely.

There is a way to help, if we want to do it. Cathie Adams, President of Texas Eagle Forum <cathieadams@texaseagle.org>, is a CHL. She is pro-gun, a devout Christian woman, and very knowledgeable about matters politic. She is a woman after my own heart. I count her among my dear friends, though we have never met face to face. We will take care of that, when she comes to speak at Clear Creek Republican Women on May 2nd. She needs our help. Cathie is running for Republican National Committeewoman. If you go to your Precinct Convention on March 4th, in your Precinct polling location, right after polls close, you can vote on the Planks for the Republican Platform and will be eligible to attend the Senatorial Convention in your District. At that local Convention, the delegates for the State Republican Convention are elected. Usually, in our District, anyway, there are enough seats available for everyone to go, who wants to go. At the State Convention, which is in Houston this year, you will be able to vote for the Republican National Committeeman ... or woman, in this case. I do hope you will join me in pursuing this avenue of service and vote for Cathie. We can use all the gun-friendly men and women that we can get in positions of power and authority, at all levels. Besides, the Conventions are fun, and you leave with a feeling that you have done your part to put this country back on track. :patriot:

If you want to know more about Cathie and her candidacy, please, go to: <www.cathieadams4rnc.com>

Thanks for considering Cathie. :txflag:

School shootings are rare, as are shootings in churches, malls and anywhere else would-be mass murders can find a target-rich environment. <Snip>

Many have stopped using the “gun free zone euphemism choosing to more accurately label these areas “gun free victim zones. <Snip> It is a supremely accurate description of the places where we send our children and college age sons and daughters to learn. We owe it to them, to their children and to ourselves to remove the human hunting grounds legislatively created.

<Snip>
Finally, a voice of reason; someone showing true compassion and concern for human life, rather than spouting a political mantra. Another state senator willing to take up the cause is Indiana State Senator Johnny Nugent who sponsored SB356 that would have allowed all Indiana CHLs to carry defensive handguns on any State property, including universities. This bill failed by one vote on February 7, 2008. In view of the Northern Illinois University shooting eight days later, one must wonder how many Indiana Senators would like to have a chance to have that vote back? Senator Nugent’s words must still be ringing in their ears:
  • “Criminals love to operate in areas where guns are outlawed, because they know their victims are defenseless. <Snip>â€?

    <Snip>People are dying in “gun free victim zones and the media is unwittingly increasing the danger by giving attention-starved murders their fifteen minutes of fame. <Snip>

    The issue is clear and there can be no intellectually honest debate. “Gun free school zones are killing people in alarming numbers and we are long past the time when the law must be changed. This issue will come up in the Texas Legislature in the 2009 Legislative Session and our elected officials need to follow the lead of Texas Governor Rick Perry and Indiana Senator Johnny Nugent. We trust CHLs to carry defensive handguns virtually everywhere else in the State; it’s time to say lives are just as valuable on university campuses as they are off campus. <Snip>

It's for the "chir'ren"! :iagree:

Let the detractors (liberals/media) chew on that one! :cheers2: :rolll
