Well, my brother's birthday has come around again, and I'm trying to find something really cool for him. He's gotten into long range shooting, well, just starting to actually. He's got a Remington 700 LTR .308 with 20" barrel, and topped it with the Leupold Mark 4 4.5-20x50 in Leupold Mark 4 rings. It's a darn accurate gun! Shooting prone with a bipod it puts 3 rounds in a tight cloverleaf at 100 yards consistantly. He hasn't had a chance to shoot at any longer range than that as of yet. So far, he's put 120 rounds through it, 3 boxes of factory Hornady, 1 box of factory Remington, and 2 boxes of handloads that one of his officer friends helped him reload to teach him how. He followed a pretty in depth break in procedure and has kept an accurate round count. And he mentioned that he thinks he should probably keep pretty diligent records througout the life of the rifle.

I thought a gift of some ballistic cards and a shooting log would be good for his birthday, but don't really have any ideas as to what is good, or what might actually be helpful. I thought maybe some of you guys who are into long range and precision shooting might have a method or particular book that works well for you. I've seen a few by Voodoo Tactical and Tactical Tailor just looking around in the past couple of days, but I'm not a precision shooter and don't know what gear is helpful, and don't know what info would be good for him to record. Any ideas, suggestions or helpful hints?
