Re: open carry
Sorry, boomerang. I looked a little closer and found it in the CHL Laws and Selected Statutes. I must have been editing as you were replying. He's an LEO.

Re: open carry
Which law states that you can't openly carry a firearm on someone's property with their permission. I've done it a million times before and never knew that it was not legal. Granted, ignorance is no defense, so I'd like to read it and know from now on.
I looked through the PC 46.02 and I think I found it, but it's off the DPS site, and it won't let me copy and paste just the part I want from the PDF file. Under unlawful carying weapons it says an offense is commited if

If you're carrying openly on a friends land, how do you prove the owner allows the "premises to be under your control" if they're not there? If they are there, can they simply tell the officer that they allow you to have control of the premises also? I've openly carried a million times while we were riding 4 wheelers on his land, and never realized this was not legal. I guess the chances of a deputy or officer being out there are slim to none, but it would still be nice to be able to do it legally.*snip* a person... commits offense... carries on or about his or her person... (1) on the person's own premises or premises under the person's control; or...*snip*

Re: open carry
HAHA, I just knew you had some zombie tips too! I know, anygun, I read a few open carry threads before. They get kinda ugly! Maybe it was better to just derail it with txi's phaser comment before it degenerated itself to "locked" status!

Re: open carry
TXI, if you'll notice, I have the DELUXE phaser. The mini phaser is actually in the handle right now. I used to carry just the mini phaser in my pocket. But one day, I irresponsibly put it in the console of my truck and forgot. I got home and thought it was the garage door opener. I shot a hole right through my dash board, through the front of my truck and right into the garage door!! The only thing that stopped it was the box of tin foil that happened to be laying there. Since then, I only wear hats made of that brand of tin foil!
Blue Bell Pralines and Cream all the way, Baby!!!!!
Come on, anygun! Let us have a little fun!? Besides, everyone already knows, you use a .45 for zombies! You can't argue that!

Re: open carry
My new daily carry.
I like to hide it under a 5.11 vest. No need for extra ammo, nothing. It's GREAT!

Re: open carry
I can see being in favor of open carry strictly as a right we shouldn't have to fight for to be able to exercise. I personally, would not carry open very often at all. I've carried open in New Mexico before, but only because we were hunting, and ran in to town (Jal) to grab lunch. That is the only place in a town I've ever carried open. I've carried openly at our private range, or while hunting in Texas, but always disarm if we go into town here. I like the advantage of surprise that concealed carry gives me.
