If you are calling me a Glock Fanboy, thank you for the compliment :).
My experience with 1911s has been much less than stellar, with every model from low end to high end being unreliable even after top quality gunsmithing. I switched to Glocks and my reliablity problems went away. Off the top of my head I have put about 100,000 rounds through 7 different Glocks since 1994 and the only malfunction I have had was a magazine base slide off when I didn't want it to (Of course right in the middle of an IDPA Classifier). I have yet to meet a 1911 with that kind of reliability.
Not trying to hijack any threads, just saying that not everybody likes the 1911.

As far as 1911s being a topic everyone likes, I personally do not care for them because IME they have more malfunctions and issues than more modern handguns. A gun you trust your life to has to run. Period.
