Florida CWL Forum
Whilst living in Texas I was fortunate to have a Texas CHL website available which was very valuable indeed... in is still in operation at http://www.texaschlforum.com/ It is owned by NRA Board of Director and attorney Charles Cotton... who BTW is a really great guy... not only is he a leader with t...

Re: Do you keep one in the "pipe?"
How else would you carry?
Unless your sidearm is unsafe mechanically there is no reason to carry any other way....

Didn't the legislature pre-empt all firearms legislation? Or was it only relating to carry?

Re: J Horn is acquitted of wrongdoing.
Gents, I have read PC Chapt 9 pretty carefully... I can't find a single place it tells you WHERE you can or can not shoot someone if you are justified in using deadly force...
If I have missed this somehow, would someone be kind enough to show it to me?
Thanks
Chuck

Re: Texas Self-Defense & Deadly Force Law Seminar
Just a comment here... anyone who possibly can should attend Charles' seminar... I went last year with my lawyer and we both enjoyed it a lot... and learned a great deal... this should be a must for CHL instructors. The time flew by and we could have listened for 10 hours... it was that good... FWIW...

Re: First LEO contact - disarmed and unloaded
We need to consider what the law says here... First, it does not give LEOs blanket authority to disarm CHL holders... the officer must have "reasonable" belief that it is necessary for the reasons stated in the law... and it does NOT authorize a blanked policy of disarming everyone... an o...

Re: J Horn is acquitted of wrongdoing.
I have to admit I'm confused here... Texas PC 9.42 and 9.43 are pretty clear... please educate me... WHY would a grand jury have indited Mr. Horn? What would be the basis? Thanks Chuck The 911 tapes are going to be the issue here. 0:20 - Do you want me to stop them? 3:09 - I'm going to shoot, I'm go...

Is a rodeo a professional sporting event? Or is it entertainment? Like a play etc.?
How is "Professional sporting event" defined?

Re: Are you locked and loaded?
The Loudest noise you will ever hear is "CLICK" when you need to hear "BANG!" FWIW Chuck Been carrying about a month now. The other day I racked the slide and was about to holster my Glock 19 when I remembered to check the chambered round indicator. It was not sticking out! How c...

Can You Carry?
It seems to me it is easier to ask forgivness than permission... If you don't think you will like the answer don't ask the quetion. FWIW Chuck Make sure you ask the person in charge if you're CHL will allow you to carry while participating in their program. I would be surprised if they allow firearm...

Re: Merry Chrtmas From the DPS
The DPS manual does not spell out when a trooper can or can't give a warning... it simply says for "minor offences" which covers a lot of ground... FWIW Chuck Most Troopers I know have a 5MPH tolerance for speed limits 70 and up. There are many reasons you may have been warned at 9 over ra...

Merry Chrtmas From the DPS
Whilst heading toward my family home out of state with my wife and dog in the car, was stopped on I20 near mineola at about 05 and still semi dark. Trooper was behind a hill on the side of the road... though you could not really say he was hiding. I was going about 79 in a 70 zone... so knew i was w...

Re: Carry in Courthouse
If you read the law it says with permission... it does not state WHO may give that permission. Whilst I would agree a judge can, I would think the clerk of court could as well... or maybe the janitor... or the bailiff, or the secretary in the clerks office... it is vague. FWIW Chuck If you're friend...
