Re: Corona Virus (COVID-19)( SARS-CoV-2) from China: Its going to be bad.

None of these studies mentions those with natural immunity and previous infection. Which is supposed to be much more robust than any of the vaccines... according to the few Dr.'s that have spoken out and studies that have been since suppressed.

There is a big percentage of the country that now has had covid and doesn't need the vaccine or any unnecessary risk that it can bring.

well crud! I managed to shut the tab I was in and lost the my links and comments. Not spending another 30 minutes recreating itall so here's the short version. Not all from same sources. SOme of what I said are from conversations with Dr. friends (and they cite sources) but I can't recall all of them.

google reinfection rates and then breakthrough rates. lots of commentary there and the numbers are much lower for reinfection in what I have read.

https://bnonews.com/index.php/2020/08/c ... n-tracker/ not a scientific source- just a reinfection tracking page

I know that nothing I post is definitive and for every study that says one thing, you can find a counter point.... I really miss the days of being able to trust science and medical info! :tiphat:

No. Not actually.

A virology researcher on another gun forum had been posting about his antibody titers post vaccination, comparing them to titers from recovered patients. 2 weeks after his second dose of Phizer (?) his numbers were >10x the antibody levels seen in the recovering patients he had tested.
His.
Sample of 1. My mother in law got much sicker from shot #2 than covid. And she's "high risk." Using that sample of 1- no one should get the vaccine. No single sample means much.

Most of what I've read says the vaccine reduces severity of covid in most people, more than it prevents infection. Reinfection rates suggest that real antibodies work better than vax created ones.

We can agree to disagree - just like the scientists. :tiphat:

Ruark wrote: Tue May 18, 2021 9:58 am I respect your decision, but the nagging element here is that your decision isn't made in isolation; it affects everybody, both pro and anti vax, by perpetuating packed hospitals, shutdowns, oppressive masking requirements, etc.
The reality is that my antibodies are currently more effective than the vaccine. Documented reinfection rates are extremely low. So as it stands, I am no greater threat to anyone else by not taking it. I don't know where you are but our local hospitals are not being taxed by covid.

I'm much more likely to get in to a car accident and "burden the hospital staff" right now than I am to be a burden with covid.

I don't insist anyone mask, double mask or other. I have always believed that if you are at risk, you need to be vigilant. And even when the "science" said masks didn't work, I still respected the signs and wore one where requested or in crowds.

I'm not anti vax- I'm just not yet comfortable with this vax. That will likely change once some time has passed. :tiphat:

Ruark wrote: Tue May 18, 2021 8:46 am Also, there's WAY too much focus on "survival rate."
Well to be fair- One could argue there is WAY too much emphasis put on the doom and gloom, ventilator, month on your back, barely survive, etc.

I know dozens of people from our school who have had it, plus it went through our house, back before a vac was available...

The worst I've seen was my 75 yo mother in law and she was no worse off than a mild flu and 1 kid from school who developed migraines (they think) from covid. Most of us never even showed symptoms. I lost some taste/smell, but no other issues.

I have a number of Dr. friends and all were apprehensive about the vac, but required by employers. And all but 1 said they'd NOT allow young person or their own kids get it. All citing unknown long term effects.

I'll take the word of actual Dr.'s I know and trust (one of which worked at the mayo clinic and actually studied virology and vaccines in her early career) over the flip flopping "science" of fauci and joe.

I don't tell people not to get vaccinated- it's not a black and white answer for all. I just ask that you respect the decision I made, with the consulting advice of my physician, and I'll do the same for you, in return.

"We did it again!
I am thrilled to announce that Denton County Public Health (DCPH) set a new record on Thursday, April 29, providing 17,003 COVID-19 vaccines at Texas Motor Speedway and breaking all previous DCPH vaccination clinic records, including one set on April 14 with 14,947. Thursday’s totals could potentially set new national record for the most vaccines given at a single clinic location in one day."
With progress like that, this thing should have been gone by now.

And yet, the official word is that if we are lucky, "we should be able to gather with immediate family, outdoors, with masks, by july 4th" :headscratch

They will keep guessing until they get it right.

geeze, I could be an expert at WHO and my field is real estate.... you know it is transmitted on both private and public property! See I really am an expert and just put out a statement more definitive than theirs.

Ruark wrote: Fri Apr 17, 2020 5:59 pm I'm beginning to see reports now of people getting $50,000 bills for their coronavirus treatments, particularly if it involved ICUs and/or ventilators. It can go as high as $80K in some cases.

Health care is insane; I don't know where this is going. Take an ordinary ECG of your heart. A Medical Assistant making $8/hr. sticks some electrodes on your chest. They come in boxes of 500, like half a cent each. The MA runs the ECG machine, which cost $399, for a few seconds. It prints out the ECG on some graph paper. The graph paper comes in 100-ft. rolls that cost a few dollars each (in cases of a dozen).

Then comes the bill: ECG - $820.
Then the beauty. The physican grabs the printout, glances at it and says, "yeah, looks OK."
"ECG interpretation: $375"

This is insane, just beyond comprehension.
A bit oversimplified, but either way- that $375 is an absolute bargain when something isn't right. ;-)

Those costs aren't just because of Coronavirus... spend a week in ICU on a vent for any reason and the bills are astronomical. But hey- I'll take $80k and my life over dying, any day of the week. What's the worst case scenario?... a few years of payments on a negotiated settlement? bankruptcy? How much of the 80K falls in to insurance? I would think 80%-ish most, based on what my plan looks like. I'd love it to be cheaper but it's not a simple fix. A buddy of mine is a surgeon and he pays more in malpractice premiums than most people make in salary.

I think minimum wage was $8 about 20 yrs ago.

The fear mongering is extremely overblown here.
My guess is that the speed at which this one seemed to spread was much more rapid than the swine flu and that garnered the extreme reaction. While I do think the gov't is up to no good in some regards- I have relatives who have tested positive for Covid and others that are high risk for death if they get it- so I'm hunkered down in an effort to protect them and my family.

In this thread you've been saying it's all overblown but in another thread you say are afraid to visit your grand daughter... :confused5 I don't mean that in any derogatory way, just trying to follow.

It all seems overblown until it gets ugly locally or people in your own family start dying.

Wow, I can't say I blame him... last time he got shaft and had to pay unemployment for all the ramp up workers and got stuck with inventory and supplies when cancelled.

I bet he could strike a deal with this administration to avoid the unemployment insurance for the overflow workers. And if nothing else, they should buy from him to resupply the national stockpile (and increase it) tenfold.

Re: Corona Virus (COVID-19) from China: Its going to be bad.

Seems like we need to bite the bullet and implement a 3 week shelter in place to let those infected show symptoms and get to hospital and to stop the spread- it's the unknowns of transmission (and apparent ease of transmission) that seem to be so problematic.

At that point we [hopefully] could plug the leaks and manage it, I think.

It’s dangerous to base your campaign on a great economy alone.
Agreed... I think he's done a good job of touting all of his accomplishments but the one thing that is killing the dems is the economy... and I think it;s the only thing that could derail it all.

Political ramifications aside, I'm praying for containment and a vaccine asap.
