Re: Got pulled over by Keller'a finest

The last time I got stopped I had
...Expired Tag - which I didn't know about because the sticker is now opaque and I never look at them when I’m outside the car.
...Expired inspection - Which I did know about but had been procrastinating
...Expired TDL - which I did not know about. How many of you have checked the expiration date on your drivers’ license lately?
...No insurance card. I just didn’t have it in its slot for some reason.

The only thing I had current was my CHL.

I got the ticket(s) but it was dismissed over the phone. I never received a court date so I called and no one could find the citation.

I don't know if the Montgomery Co. Deputy tossed it because of the CHL (which I doubt seriously), of if he just lost his ticket book, or the clerks lost the paperwork but I do know that in previous encounters, the benefit of the doubt was always more on my side in the past 7 years since I've had a CHL than before.

The first time I got stopped after getting a CHL was for speeding on a section of I-10 near the east side loop where the limit is 60. I was going around 78 or so; basically keeping up with traffic and the officer only wrote me up for 70 in a 60, which apparently still allows defensive driving for a dismissal.

Since then, I might get stopped every year and a half for something; usually an expired something since I do procrastinate :banghead: but I'm convinced that the CHL does help.

Or maybe I'm just lucky.

My father was career LEO so I’m well aware of the challenges they face and have the utmost respect.
