Re: Dog shot in city park
about the undocked tail. I have been whipped more times than I can remember. It basically comes down to the fact that large dogs are the concern. Why they say pits are the bad ones, I will never know. Just seems to me no matter how big the dog the media will always come back and say its a pit and it isnt. This I think gets more viewers and concerns to provide drama I guess. I do feel that owner should have had those dogs on their leashes, and another pet peeve is the dang owners dropping off out here in the woods. It comes down to the owners just being responsible no matter the breed. Please though dont fuel the fire with the media bc chances are it isnt a pit.

Re: Dog shot in city park
It is tough to tell the difference. I think 9 times out of 10 it isnt reallly a pit. The media then steps in. Its just like someone shooting up a place with a winchester 93, and the media turning around saying he had an ak47 assault rifle. It drives me nuts

Re: Dog shot in city park
I personally would think that this is kinda a similiar thing to guns. Guns get all the bad rap bc of a few bad people use them. The same goes for pit bulls. The media has them hyped up about how bad they are blah blah but the truth is alot of people dont know the facts about them only myths. Hence same with guns. The owners dont take care of them and beat them and harass them. Look up the facts regarding there temperment. They have the same aggression as a cocker spanial. Seems there are a few gun owners that would be wise to this. Here is an example http://www.pitbullsontheweb.com/petbull/findpit.html if you can pick the pit out on the first one then let us know. Look up the facts as well before worrying about them. This cop that shot the dog probly didnt really need to

Re: Dog shot in city park
Thats sad to hear about that. Chances are the guy saw the "pitbull" and assumed the worst. Most pits by nature are good dogs. The owners were wrong in not having by the leash but imo people are so quick to judge that its a "pit" and shoot it. Its the owners that make these dogs the way they are, just like any other dog. I dont know, I just dont get it I guess. I think the dog probly didnt attack and the guy was in the wrong, but then again I wasnt there. I own a pit myself and always wonder if it would even wake up if someone got in my house. Sweetest dogs in the world!
