I was at the Cinemark theater in Pearland this past Sunday; it, too, was not 30.06 posted. (Nor did it have any gun buster signs).WildBill wrote:Last weekend I went to a Cinemark theater and didn't see any 30.06 signs.

I dont agree with it as it seems to cave to the grabbers but its better than total compliance.

Me too!stevie_d_64 wrote:AMC Gulfpoint 30 is posted with 8.5 x 11 inch sheets on 3 doors at the front entrances...
The wording appears to be correct per the law, but the size is obviously wrong because I had to walk right up to the door lean down to look at it real closely to read it...
Since the wife had already purchased our tickets, though, the two of us (along with my CCW in tow) walked past the non-compliant signs into the building, safely enjoyed our flick, and then exited that theater for the first and last time. We will NOT be going back...

Me too!Venus Pax wrote:Next time Mars & I go to the mall, we'll check out the signage. We usually see movies at the AMC in Deerbrook. I keep "No guns=no $" cards in my wallet, so I will request the manager when I see it.
Looks like we'll be seeing movies at the Movie Tavern across the street until something changes.

Why would you bother to bring it to their attention? You're more likely to get a proper sign installed than to convince some corporate entity they are wrong about CHLs.
Their notice does not comply with the law and it is a defense to prosecution. I always take a quick look around the doors to a building before entering, but I'm not going to study the tiny signs to see if they are actually reduced copies of legally compliant signs. The intent of the law was to make it easy and quick for CHLs to determine if the owner has complied with 30.06 requirements. The burden of notice is on the owner, not on the CHL holder.

Re: ALERT: AMC Theaters have posted 30.06
You're right, I was a bit nervous with my decision. As for a possible response to an arresting officer, I was simply prepared to say that I was not given proper notice. (After all, the letters on the sign were not to standard with regard to their size and lack of contrasting colors). Would that not have been a valid response/defense?Lucky45 wrote:Sound like you were insecure with your decision. Did you have anything planned to say to arresting officer? Just be sure in YOUR MIND before the cross that sign next time.M9FAN wrote:Needless to say, I walked right on past those signs and into the theater without thinking twice about it. Anyone ever been caught with their weapon in a facility where the posted 30.06 sign was non-compliant?

Re: ALERT: AMC Theaters have posted 30.06
The wife and I were at the AMC Gulfpoint 30 theater this past Saturday and it, too, IS posted. (Two signs at two entrances, both of which are in English and Spanish). However, the signs are NOT compliant for the following reasons.stevie_d_64 wrote: ... AMC Gulfpoint 30 theater is a stones throw from us...Guess I'll wander over there tomorrow and see if it is posted as well...I won't be surprised if it is...
B) a sign posted on the property that: (i) includes the language described by
Paragraph (A) in both English and Spanish; (ii) appears in contrasting colors with
block letters at least one inch in height; and (iii) is displayed in a conspicuous manner
clearly visible to the public.
Needless to say, I walked right on past those signs and into the theater without thinking twice about it. Hope I was okay in doing so...
