The problem that I had with Pre-Paid legal (when I signed up for the service about 10 years ago) was that the required your Social Security number. I don't like giving that out unless I'm getting paid, so I refused. I told them that I wanted them to use some other number as my identifier, they refused. They said that it HAD to be the SS number. I quoted the Privacy Act, they actually had the nerve to say that they were ALLOWED to require that number in order to provide services. This was what I got from several people I talked with at PPL. I kinda figured: If they don't know the ins and outs of that simple law, then I don't want them.
