Well...Test is done.
The wife outscored me on the written. I missed one.
I got her back on the shooting 249 to 229.
It was a great day. We had a blast. We were the only ones there and I would highly recommend our instructor and the whole setup if your anywhere from Houston to Dallas (we are right in between on I-45) I feel it is well worth the drive. Like I said, it was a great day.
On the background problem. I showed him what all I had and he said pack it all in the folder behind the yellow paperwork and send it off. He said he does not foresee any problem what-so-ever, but if there is, give him a call and we will get it worked out.
Once again...Thanks for the help.

Thanks for being almost as offended as I am. Been years since I have even thought about it. But thats what I get for growing up in a small town. This all happened in the first place because they said it was a Red GMC truck and I happened to drive one. One of the parents was a sibling of a close family our family hung out with and knew my parents made a decent living (not rich by any means). I wouldnt change it for anything (the place) but yes, I feel that it is an injustice to have to prove that I was proven innocent 20 years later. But I cant change this.
I originally started this chl thing so my wife would get hers. Not tooting my own horn, but she is a gorgeous girl. I am one of those guys we all look at and say, dang...how did he get a girl like that. LOL.....She has had several encounters that have made her nervous. We have two kiddos and one of the instances involved the oldest, who was cornered at a county fair by two adult men. She has mentioned many times that she needs a permit to carry. She is the deer....duck..dove hunting type and knows how to handle a weapon as well as I do, and just as safely. She grew up around guns.
We go through the course and take both tests tomorrow. I will see this through and hope it all works out. But if it doesnt, at least she got her chl, which again, was my main priority.
Thanks for everyone's help. But if anyone has any ideas of what else I can do, please let me know.

Ok. This morning I went to the District Clerk and told her the situation. We looked and we found the information. What it does not have is the disposition. There were two counts and neither had the disposition paper. She wrote a letter that stated there was no conviction of file and certified it and I left.
Driving down the road I looked at the letter and it said no conviction on file for the last 10 years. I said to my self...Self, that wont work. But I had to be in a meeting an hour later so I called my wife. I told her what I got and she went up there, and she talked to a different lady. They searched and searched through the court files and couldnt find anything that showed the conclusion result of either charge (two kiddos were allegedly involved, so two charges filed).
What my wife brought home is certified copies of the criminal docket. They state from start to finish my plea of not guilty. The start of the trial and the waiving of a jury. Resesses and resuming of the trial and at the very end it shows count 1-Held-Not Guilty and same on count two. Both signed by the judge. Both Signed and Stamped with embossed seal from county.
Whatcha think?

Ok....will be there on their doorsteps in the morning to try to get the letter if they can't come up with anything.
I really appreciate your help and advise. Everyone's. I felt at the time that it was going on 20 years ago that it was unfair because someone wanted to try and con someone out of some money. This is the first time it has resurfaced since.
Again, thanks. I will update tomorrow after I see if they will take the time to search the archives tomorrow. They wanted me to send in the request for the disposition but I find that odd since I live 15 minutes from the courthouse.
BTW...the judge that handled the case has a lake lot about 8 houses down from mine (private lake). I see him a few times a month.

Thanks everyone. I have started the ball rolling.
I went to the website (dps criminal history) that yobdab referred to and paid my fee and searched myself three different ways and there was nothing on file. I thought I might have done something wrong and called and talked to a guy at the DPS office for the website. He said that if it shows "no records found" that it wont show any records when they pull it either. He recommended I just attach the printout to the application and said it would also speed up processing for the CHL.
I also contacted the District court and talked to a clerk and she said If I send in a request they will try to find something on it. But since it was 20 years ago the file will be archived and there is a small chance it will even be found. So I guess I should send in the request just to make sure?
I contacted the city police about the MIP's and both cities said, forget it man, we would never have a record of that. Not 22-24 years ago.
So finally I called the concealed handgun department and talked it through with them. They said dont put the MIP's because they make no difference. But I have to find some kind of disposition of the court case or it will just be rejected. I will go to the district clerks office in the morning and see what happens. I suspect they will not have any record of it what-so-ever.
So I am screwed.

Ok...obviously the attempted kidnapping I was indicted or I wouldnt be concerned. I am assuming when you say "disposition" you are referring to the outcome? And yes....I am figuring this will be hard to come by in small town.
The MIP's----two were just tickets, pour it out, and go home and dont come back. One was go directly to jail for an hour or so till Dad shows up. I have no idea when this might have been (year) but I suppose if I contact the city police they could look up the record of it by my name or social security number?
Thanks for the help

First post is gonna be a doozie.....But first off, great forum and all input will be greatly appreciated. I am worried about being able to get my chl. Take the test this weekend but here is what I am worried about.
I am 38 years old. Family man. Pillar of the community.
Thats the good part. The bad is I wasnt always that way. I had 3 minor in possessions in late teens. Yeah, I liked to drink, but barely do even socially now. Just on rare occasions.
The worse part is what I am afraid of. I was falsely accused when I was 20 or 21 of attempted kidnapping. I didnt know the people and it went to trial. The trial was stopped after one day and the judge held the juveniles parents in contempt and later charges were pressed for purgery. They admitted to trying to get money out of my parents. Of course I was found innocent and life went on.
Question 1....will any of these be a denial offense to getting a chl?
Qhestion 2....without ever seeing the paperwork, what information will I have to get to declare these instances in my very long ago past. I need to start now because my instructor helps us fill out the paperwork and I need to have it when we test, I suppose.
Thanks again in advance...
Craig
ps. I am a proud new owner of a Kimber Eclipse Pro II....been wanting one for a long long time...thought I would just throw that out there
