I can confirm that this is happening at other locations as well. Site schedulers are adjusting their no show expectations accordingly. In a way, it's good news that the vaccine is becoming more widely available, through multiple channels.

I spent yesterday volunteering at the TMS clinic. They did just a hair under 12,000 vaccinations yesterday.

I’ve heard great things about the Texas Motor Speedway process. I’m in Denton county and just got on the list yesterday so I’ll probably be going there when my appt comes up.

The funds taken for development are irrelevant. A proverbial "drop in the bucket" for a large pharma company. There were likely some strings attached to the development funds that Pfizer chose to avoid. The real key to rapid development was: (1) the administration clearing the FDA, HHS, etc. bureaucratic hurdles to development and human testing. (2) the administration allowing and contracting for advance manufacturing and distribution of the most promising candidates. Pfizer already took $2 billion from the feds to produce up to 100,000,000 doses for the US, and they may get more for the distribution. I am also familiar with the distribution program that was a public/private partnership driven by the Trump admin. One of the US Army's top logistics generals was put in charge. I have worked previously on programs overseen by him and his command and they are some of the world's top logisticians. No way Pfizer pulls this off without the US government's help regardless of whether they took the development money. The narrative being set is purely political and being set to curry favor with the "left".

You're correct, but the key error in your thought process is in assuming that COVID-19 is an airborne infection. It is not. Our head ID guy explained it during a conference a:s "one coughing person with measles or TB would infect half of the (200 person conference) room. One person with COVID 19 would infect the 10-20 people around them." If COVID were airborne, everyone would have it by now and there would be no point in any kind of mask. We are fortunate that it is transmitted via droplets against with commonly available cloth and surgical masks are effective. When I am seeing patients, I wear an N95. When I am out and about, I stay back from folks and wear a cloth mask.

Evidence of usefulness of cloth or other non N95 masks in public settings seems very thin. The explanation that we always hear seems to be: It helps block the expulsion of respiratory droplets (i.e. spit and snot/sputum & mucous) from a cough or sneeze of an asymptomatic infected person (if they're asymptomatic, how come they're coughing and sneezing...anyway). OK, how about not coughing or sneezing on other people in public, or alternatively, doing so into a handkerchief or towel, rather than wearing one on yourface attached with rubber bands? How about during normal respiration? Are there really that many droplets expelled? How far do they travel and how long to they remain in the air? Why does the mask only work when the "other guy" wears one? So your walking down the chips aisle at Wal-Mart and along comes this non-mask wearing guy going the wrong way against the painters' tape arrows on the floor. But! You have a cheap Chinese made faux surgical dust mask on that you just bought at the same store. So for the 1/3 sec that it takes to run away from the people seeking viral missiles of respiratory pathogens that he is expelling with every breath, you breathe IN through your mask. The drops must be a lot more diffuse than they were coming out of his mouth. So why would it only work if "the other guy" wears a mask? If you are concerned about the unmasked, why wouldn't YOU wear one? Better yet, a good one like an N95? No no, better to make everyone ELSE wear an ineffective virtue signalling placebo like a dirty bandanna or coffee filter strapped to their face with rubber bands. It's about control and making people obey.

The New Rochelle mayor only said the guard would play a limited role. The action itself was taken by the state governor who controls the national guard within the state.
