Re: Academy and Buying Ammo and carded?

OK but because of the sheer volume of such information it is basically useless to the government. I just don't want Academy recording my DL information because they don't need it, so I don't want to give it to them. It's just more security "theater". If they want to make people "feel" safe, just stop selling guns...I don't care if Ammoman has it because I get cheaper ammo and that's why I gave them my address, so the UPS man could find me.

Now I wait for someone to come along with the dead horse icon and declare this thread over because in their opinion there is nothing more to say... :waiting:

I also read where they were bought out and are now owned by someone out-of-state. That could explain what they are doing!
:txflag:
By KKR no less....truly 'Barbarians at the Gate' for you '80's fans.

Apparently Academy is pulling ARs off of the display case (as they did after Sandy Hook). You can still buy them, just have to ask for them to be brought out. And they're now going to start tracking large AR caliber ammo purchases.
Idiots! No more Academy for me. And 5.56mm is medium caliber not high caliber. They need to start tracking that dangerous 30.06 caliber...

An old friend of my father's was a WWII vet and said he shot a German soldier in the shoulder with a M1 Garand and swore it took his arm off..

What a crock. I should be able to buy a pallet as long as I have enough cash... Meanwhile I'll keep ordering from Ammoman.com with my credit card so the NSA can scoop up my details and put me on Obama's "watch list".

You have to show ID to vote, after all.
What does Academy need my ID for? They don't ask for it when I'm buying water or camping fuel or tent stakes.

I'm clearly over 18, so there's no issue with me buying .223...

If I'm not driving or carrying my handgun, why should I carry ID at all? I don't need my "papers" demanded by every two-bit clerk. I'm actually kind of tired of showing it to buy a drink. I'm almost 50 and there's no reason suspect I'm under 21.

Check Academy off of my list of places to do business with if they are instituting a new policy.... :mad5

It's a shame because they've got very good prices on guns and I shop there a lot. :???:

Re: Academy and Buying Ammo and carded?

I remember before FOPA (1986) the store had to keep a log of ammo sold, name and ID#. Since that hasn't been the case for 30 years now, I'd say the guy at Academy was full of it...
