Now I wait for someone to come along with the dead horse icon and declare this thread over because in their opinion there is nothing more to say...

Return to “Academy and Buying Ammo and carded?”
By KKR no less....truly 'Barbarians at the Gate' for you '80's fans.Papacub wrote:I sent Academy an email letting them know I would no longer be shopping at their stores. Being an LTC Instructor, I had always recommended Academy for ammo and handguns, no more! I hope it hurts them!
I also read where they were bought out and are now owned by someone out-of-state. That could explain what they are doing!
Idiots! No more Academy for me. And 5.56mm is medium caliber not high caliber. They need to start tracking that dangerous 30.06 caliber...TexasCajun wrote:I've seen a couple of references to a new policy today on other gun forums and Facebook pages. Apparently Academy is pulling ARs off of the display case (as they did after Sandy Hook). You can still buy them, just have to ask for them to be brought out. And they're now going to start tracking large AR caliber ammo purchases.
What a crock. I should be able to buy a pallet as long as I have enough cash... Meanwhile I'll keep ordering from Ammoman.com with my credit card so the NSA can scoop up my details and put me on Obama's "watch list".NTexCopRetired wrote:Found a post on a blog (I don't know if links are allowed here):
Referencing Academy Sports - "The most shocking development is that the conference call outlined a new policy requiring any sale of more than 10 boxes in a caliber that Academy deems an “assault rifle caliber” will require the buyer to furnish personal information that Academy is planning on keeping in a database, other employees have stated that they were just directed to “report the transaction” with no clear outline on how to do so."
What does Academy need my ID for? They don't ask for it when I'm buying water or camping fuel or tent stakes.JALLEN wrote:What is the objection to producing ID?
You have to show ID to vote, after all.
Check Academy off of my list of places to do business with if they are instituting a new policy....16Adams wrote:Various shooting blogs are reporting a new sporting rifle and their ammo policy. Don't know if calling people names is going to help, perhaps a Google search on if they've instituted a new policy or if it's just a rumor?
