On this subject, there's an interesting parallel with the National Firearms Act of 1934 NFA. This law imposed a $200 tax on machine guns, silencers, short barreled shotguns, and short rifles. According to the BLS this is the equivalent of about $3500 today. NFA has been subsequently upheld, as has the 1986 law 18 USC 922o, which banned registrations of new machine guns for private citizens.

Poll taxes became unconstitutional because of the 24th amendment. :rules:

I propose a $1,000 tax on every printed NRA magazine... :biggrinjester:


And $200 on every rifle/shotgun w/ barrel shorter than 16"/18"... ohhh, ahh never mind... :oops:
