Re: Houston Zoo Reinstalls No Guns Signs
Think of all of the revenue the state is missing by not taking action and collecting those fines from all around the state.

The other potential test case will come after zoo officials are fined and they try the same "educational institution" argument as a defendant.
Assuming the AG's office really pursues any of these complaints.

At least he put the weapon up when told but seriously talk about swatting the hornets nest. Unbelievable.
I much prefer taking the alcohol approach mentioned earlier. The city of Dallas also prevents alcohol sales within 300 feet of a school or daycare...didn't the zoo claim to be both?[/quote]
Maybe I misread something. I don't see where he said he put the gun away when told to do so.

Well, you had the good taste and class to carry a Hi Power!
I am surprised that they didn't have a city cop come "talk" to you. Glad someone stood up to them.

Re: Houston Zoo Reinstalls No Guns Signs
If only. It's going to take a few fines and cities actually seeing that this law will be enforced before it means anything. Hoping but not holding my breath.cb1000rider wrote:JP171 wrote:

Re: Houston Zoo Reinstalls No Guns Signs
Whenever someone asks me about "needing" a gun, I ask them a question.
Why do you need to speak freely?
Why do you need freedom of religion?
Why do you need freedom of the press?
The Bill of Rights does not require anyone to pass a needs test in order to exercise their rights.

Re: Houston Zoo Reinstalls No Guns Signs
Charles, how do you see this playing out procedurally? Have the necessary notices/photos been sent to the zoo, AG, or whoever? What do you foresee as the timetable for things to start moving on this?
Thanks for your work.
