It's amazing how many people online are saying "Texas requires all homicides to go to a grand jury." So far, none of them have pointed to a state statute backing their claim.Charles L. Cotton wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 5:07 pmThat's not true. Most homicides are presented to a grand jury, but it's not required. When it's a self-defense case, it's to the benefit of the intended victim to get a "no bill."ELB wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 3:53 pm One thing I keep reading on other forums is that "In Texas all homicides have to be taken to a grand jury."
I thought that sounded fishy, and I can find no such requirement in the Texas Code of Criminal Procedures, nor so far in any other Code. Is there any actual statutory/legal precedent/or other actual rule that says this? All I have found so far is that if the DA wants to prosecute a felony, he has to take it to a grand jury and get an indictment (unlike misdemeanors where he can issue an information and prosecute on his own authority).
Any idea where this notion comes from?

Re: Church shooting in Tarrant County - White Settlement
Our justice system is seriously screwed up, which is another reason to never, ever let the government take away law abiding citizens firearms.

Re: Church shooting in Tarrant County - White Settlement
Presidential candidate Bloomberg’s take on the White Settlement church shooting, with commentary by Colion Noir
Michael Bloomberg wants you to believe that gun control is about saving lives, but when a civilian uses his gun to save over 200 people's lives, he doesn’t talk about the lives saved, nor does he congratulate the person who saved those lives.
Instead, he talks about how those people shouldn’t have had those guns because the only people responsible enough to make a decision about saving your life are the cops.
So essentially, our control over those 200 plus lives is more important than your ability to save those same lives. So to Bloomberg, if you use your gun to save lives, he doesn’t care because you’re not a cop.

Re: Church shooting in Tarrant County - White Settlement
The same progressive do-gooders who want to remove firearms from everyone except the government emptied the insane asylums and made it extremely difficult to lock up those people who are not capable of being in a civil society.

Depends on whether or not the church is operating as Texas licensed security.mr surveyor wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2019 5:53 pm are we back to using the term "church security team" rather than "church safety team"? I may be a bit behind on the accepted terminology.

Re: Church shooting in Tarrant County - White Settlement
Our security team received an alert when it happened this morning. Prayers for the security team member who gave his life for his church family. Brings home the reality of what we have committed to as church security.
