That defense line is about as lame as lawyer Allen Tanner's 'Rap defense' for the murder of state trooper Bill Davidson in 1992 by a thug whose name I refuse to include. Tanner's ridiculous use of rap music being the inspiration for murder was a failure and the murderer was finally executed October 6, 2005. I hope these thugs get the same sentence.philip964 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 2:41 pm https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nat ... 309110007/
Two teens arrested for murder of clerk over a bag of potato chips.
Clerk followed the robbers in his car, then they started shooting.

Quannel X is involved as he was with the teens when they turned themselves in.
They are saying it was self defense. Did clerk use car as an offensive weapon? Or they were just in fear of their lives because they were being followed by a man in a car?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't an individual have to be at least 18 years old to to possess and transport a handgun in Texas? And while there is an allowance for licensed carry for individuals 18 through 20, didn't HB1927 made it legal in Texas for qualifying people 21 or over to carry a handgun in a holster without a permit both openly and/or concealed?A 17-year-old charged with murdering a store clerk is a free person after a Harris County grand jury chose not to indict him on Tuesday.
Mario Young was charged in the shooting death of Humble store clerk Asif Maknojia during a dispute that started with a stolen bag of chips....
"These young men were not guilty of anything other than trying to protect themselves at a time when they thought something was going to happen to them," Lott Brooks [Young's attorney] said.
So the 17-year-old wearing a hoody with the hood up to hide his face from store cameras and carrying a gun illegally while shoplifting was just a saint doing Peace Corps work and he is "not guilty of anything other than trying to protect himself at a time when he thought something was going to happen to him"?
The poor baby. His mother said, "He's physically and mentally depressed, he's stressed, and he's going to need some counseling."

Re: TX:The mean streets of Houston- hero no billed by GJ.
Wow, I was sure that he was going to be indicted. Good decision. Unfortunately he is still subject to wrongful death suit by the dead robber’s family.philip964 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2024 12:27 amphilip964 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 1:14 pm https://www.click2houston.com/news/loca ... olice-say/

Re: TX:The mean streets of Houston - Palestinian conference cancelled due to security
Whoever decided to have a Pro-Palestinian conference in Texas is an idiot. There's plenty of leftist states that would have been better venues.philip964 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 9:22 pm https://www.cnn.com/2023/10/18/business ... index.html
Houston hotel cancels Pro Palestinian conference due to security concerns. Talab was going to be here.
There were possibly afraid of these young children pledging to be martyrs here in Houston.

Re: TX:The mean streets of Houston
A long time ago I worked as a clerk at a 7-11. During orientation we were told if robbers came in to give them whatever they wanted because nothing in the store was worth dying for.03Lightningrocks wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 12:31 pmCouple things go through my mind. First, there is no way I would have gone out and approached that guy if I was only the clerk at that store. They don't say if he was the owner. The next thing that crossed my mind is the driver of the get away car. Who knows if the driver had a firearm. The driver may have come out of the car shooting. Active defense mentioned OC spray but again, the driver could have still jumped out shooting. All over a six pack of beer. Maybe I am just too lazy or old but I ain't fighting someone over a six pack of beer.oljames3 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 11:43 am Houston is on Active Self Protection ... Again!
