Guess that's why tornado shelters have typically been constructed outside the house. How would the occupants alert others on the outside to their predicament? Whistles? Bullhorn? Satellite phone (but wouldn't it need to have a clear view of the sky?)

And if your idea of being prepared is a 72 hour kit for you and your family...you're not prepared.
