Why I carry a gun
Vallejo city worker brutally attacked by mob I actually thought this was in another country when I first saw the headline. Something is going wrong in this country. California is another country. VALLEJO, CA (KGO) -- Dozens of teenagers saw it happen in broad daylight, but no one has come forward t...

Pros Cons for CHL Insurance & Recommendations
This is follow-on to an earlier thread I posted regarding CHL insurance. In 2007 I purchase an "insurance" (it's not really described as insurance so I'm not sure I should call it that) plan that guaranteed me free legal representation all the way through a Grand Jury if I was involved in ...

Re: ammo on sale
Some reasonable prices at the Mesquite Gun Show today and tomorrow (30-31 May) LOTS of reloads and cheap prices ($17 for 50 FMJ 9MM), but I'm leery of reloads from a stranger.

Re: WI: Teacher fired over photo of herself with rifle
I'm still trying to figure out the fascination with going on Face Book or My Space and bareing your whole life to strangers. That's asking for a hassle. The less anyone knows about me the better I like it.. I think if you are of a certain age (I'm 60) then you are smart enough not to get involved w...

Re: ammo on sale
I recovered a coupla boxes of .45 1911 ball from my father's closet after he passed away.
Is there any reason why I shouldn't shoot them?

No gun owners in the Obama Administration
White House Job Application The final question is the most insidious: "Provide any other information, including information about other members of your family, that could … be a possible source of embarrassment to you, your family or the President-elect." Who doesn't have someone in their...

Buy .45 ammo
I bought some ammo yesterday at Wal-Mart (National Ammo Day!) and picked up a coupla boxes of .45 and .40 ball to burn at the range. This was the first time I bought .45 in Texas and the clerk asked me to verify that the .45 was for a handgun only??

Card to leave at businesses that forbid firearms
Does anyone know where I can get the business cards that you can leave at businesses who post 30.06 signs? I saw one once but can't remember where. I recall that it discusses the qualification of a CHL holder and makes some comment about the store owner not knowing the qualifications of someone brin...

FN Herstal Five-Seven (5.7x28mm) Pistol
Anyone familiar with this handgun? I was at the range and saw my neighbor shooting one. I was intrigued with the ammo and the light weight of the pistol. I fired a few rounds and was pleasantly surprised at the tame recoil in such a light pistol. I've done some online research and see that it's armo...
