funny you should mention the "other forum". I always make it a point to register of a brand specific forum if I own any model of that brand, just in case I want to post a question. In the case of that particular "other forum", you have to be a registered member to access pictures. I bought my XDs a couple of weeks before the recall was announced and wanted to see the pic's in the "how to" threads, so I registered to have access to the "knowledge" but hadn't really had time to really put my new XDs through the wringer before the recall (actually caught wind of the recall on a totally separate forum the night it was announced on the 28th, and shipped mine on the morning of the 29th). Then I started following the chatter on the XDs sub forum. Wow, what entertainment ! Kinda reminds me of the 4th grade.
Even though my XDs didn't come back with the upgrade slide from a Hi-Point, the trigger ended up at 8.8, which is a bit much .... I suppose I could take the time to slick up the sear and striker, and may do that if I ever get the time to even care. Even though this one was intended to eventually get into the carry mode, I had/have plenty of "carry guns" already so this one ain't gonna ruin my life if I decide I just don't like it (or it don't like me).
By the way, did you also get the $25 dollar discount coupon for the 50 round drum magazine?
JD[/quote]
JD... Nope on the higher quality High Point slide and the drum mag, the latter might come in handy if she goes full auto. 8.8 seems a tad high but I had readings all over the place before I wound up with a 7.5 average on 5 pulls. I have not yet rechecked after todays 120 rounds followed by a good cleaning.

Re: Urgent: XDs recall...
You ain't the first to say that. Perhaps because I'm rogue US Army Retired after over 31 years of active duty. My initial post after I got my XDs ,45 back from SA was all in jest after having read on the XD Talk forum about how much different the XDs was post "upgrade." I put about 120 rounds through my fixed XDs ,45 today and find it to be substantially as before I sent it off to SA... the trigger pull seems just a bit higher than before but smooth with no over travel.RogueUSMC wrote:lol...you ain't right dude...Shoot_First wrote:Perhaps it is because of the new slide mounted safety.RogueUSMC wrote:??Shoot_First wrote:My XDs .45 came home from...and the slide may be just a tad bit wider...

When I measure the imaginary dry fire bullet holes the groups are always better than at the range. Gotcha.carlson1 wrote:I may have misread because I am on my phone, but how do you "dry fire at 15 yards and get a one inch group?"Shoot_First wrote: I note the grip is a longer with the free magazine provided by SA and the slide may be just a tad bit wider, but I dry fired 9 rounds at 15 yards into a 1" group, so the upgraded accuracy seems to be better.

Re: Urgent: XDs recall...
My XDs .45 came home from its IL vacation today. I note the grip is a longer with the free magazine provided by SA and the slide may be just a tad bit wider, but I dry fired 9 rounds at 15 yards into a 1" group, so the upgraded accuracy seems to be better. I sent it to SA dirty since I was afraid to clean it out of safety concerns, but it came home clean and well lubed.
Actually, I cannot tell any difference at all. I had shot about 400 rounds through it before I sent it to SA. Per a Lyman digital trigger gauge, the pull averages 7 pounds, 8 ounces. The pull is smooth with a clean break without over travel. I will get it to the range ASAP and put a 100 rounds through it.
Included with the pistol and free mag was a note from Denny Reese and a card telling me to go to SA's web site to download the updated XDs manual or call SA to have one mailed.
If anyone is really unhappy with their XDs 9mm, I will take it off your hands for 300 bucks.

Re: Urgent: XDs recall...
jmra, I hear you and folks over at the XD Talk forum are reporting the same. However, some say they cannot tell the difference or that the "upgraded" XDs is better.jmra wrote:A friend of mine just got his back today. Forum rules prevent me from posting his description of his displeasure with the trigger. It's not the same gun folks.
Here is a report from GunsAmerica that says it is different, but better, but since SA advertises on GunsAmerica suspect the report is biased.

Hope I will find out one way or the other soon.

Re: Urgent: XDs recall...
SA had a 10/25/2013 recall update posted about 3:00pm today which linked to a YouTube video. Now SA has deleted today's update and the video. As to the video:
Nothing new... pure marketing fluff without any numbers... more to follow on Nov 1st. More to follow if and when they repost today's update.

Re: Urgent: XDs recall...
Talked to SA today and was informed they have 4 status reports on their XDs recall web site at http://springfieldrecall.com/RecallUpdate.asp. Under the Get Started tab, enter your pistols SN. The status are: label provided; firearm received; firearm fixed; and firearm shipped back to you. I suggested they provide this information in tomorrow's update.

Mine was delivered at 9:58am on Sep 3rd and I think ATDM's and Teamless' also arrived about the same time. Unlike Sookandy, I have not received a return notice from SA. Teamless? ATDM?sookandy wrote:I think they got it about Sep 3rd. I had it on its way within a day or two of the recall notice.

But the post was really about the "upgrade" as they are spinning it and not a fix (what it REALLY is).
Seems to me that a fatal flaw would mean the pistol is dead, fini, cannot be fixed. So Chili, how do you define fatal flaw? I agree with you on the upgrade part.

Re: Urgent: XDs recall...
While "fatal flaw" is an overstatement in that the problem can be fixed; SA calling the fix an "upgrade" is also wrong. My XDs arrived at SA on Sep 3, so I am expecting good news next week.mr surveyor wrote:ChillMickelson wrote:I'm just not impressed with them calling the fatal flaw fix an "upgrade."
Bad PR
and just what is the "fatal flaw"?
this recall has become downright silly with all the "sky is falling" chatter, and my guess is that most of the whiners either have very little experience with firearms in general or have no "skin in the game" to begin with.
Even if I'm not satisfied with my XDs when I get it back next week, I'm sure that the sun will come up the next day if God so chooses. Springfield acknowledged a potential problem (actually a problem most likely due to having to make this model idiot proof) and spent millions of dollars to address the issue (in reality probably a non-issue).
The only "modern" Springfield firearm I own (or have ever owned) is the XDs I purchased in mid August that I should get back next week, so I'm not the stereotypical brand-x fanboy. Just an old codger that doesn't like to see unnecessary bashing of a company trying to do the right thing.

Re: Urgent: XDs recall...
I recall reading about you killing your mattress. Seems it was ruled a justified shoot. Interesting though that your XDs slam fired WITH the grip safety depressed. Was your trigger finger indexed?ATDM wrote:I always depress my grip safety, yet my XD-S slam fired.
