I've got an issue with the entire concept of "hate crimes" and how, predictably, they've become a club to be used against some portions of society by the government and other groups.

There's a crime. Murder, assault, robbery, theft, embezzlement, whatever... charge the person under the statute and if guilty, convict them in a court of law and send them to jail. We're having trials in the media now and allowing public opinion and sentiment to render verdicts.

Thank you…. I don’t disagree that what they did was supremely stupid, but it’s not a plethora of Murder charges.

In Wisconsin. Not so much in Georgia in my opinion.

They were already tried and found guilty in the media, this was a show trial. Now we get to the sentencing, which I’m sure will reflect the thirst for vengeance of the mob.

My BIL who is in the local LEO community (Brunswick) is gearing up for a spectacle and circus.

I do as well. If you think something is going down and it’s not on your property, call for the popo and keep an eye on things. Let the paid peace officers do their thing.

I'm familiar with Brunswick. The wife's family is from there and has people in the law there... There's a couple of very insightful posts about the area. First, you're not "jogging" on Route 17 unless you have a death wish. Second, the 17 bridge is mammoth and is "no pedestrian". If the police or sheriff's departments see you on it, they'll start with you're either broken down or a jumper.

This entire situation is bad. Very poor optics and questionable circumstances. Monday morning QB'ing, I expect the McMichael's now wish they'd hung back to observe and allow the police or sheriff to handle the situation. With the previous issues of theft, I expect there was some emotion involved.

Also, no matter the actual facts, now that the professional race hustlers are involved, this will be and remain a circus.
