You're right on the money. Consideration is seen by some (those poorly raised) as weakness. I guess those of us who feel differently need to double our efforts to demonstrate proper behavior and manners.

I must say that my three kids have turned out to be respectful and courteous. Like anyone else, they may discuss an interaction after the fact, but they understand how to interact properly and respectfully. Shoot, I have my bad days and miss opportunities to "do right", but generally try to set the right tone. You'd be surprised at how many folks can be influenced and reminded by a small demonstration or example.

All in all, there's a lot more good than bad out there.

Dang... folks yelling at you for riding a horse by their house (my daughter and wife would be out in a minute, daughter had a Paso Fino), riding a bike by their house... I've got a few folks that love to walk their dogs past the house and leave a "present" or two, which doesn't bother me too much. I do get irritated by folks that stop by our fence and antagonize my hound mix, apparently just to hear him bark/bay/woof and pound on the fence. FYI I have not made any terroristic threats against anyone, not even the dog teasers...

Seriously what is up with folks being so all around ugly to their neighbors?
