So, so true. Populations within incorporated city limits according to the 2010 census:
Houston, 2.1 million
San Antonio, 1.33 million
Dallas, 1.2 million
Austin, .79 million
total, 6.42 million
Texas, 25 million
And I would bet that of the folks within those city limits, not much more than 52% support the policies of those mayors. While in the Metro suburbs and rural areas folks have already voted on those policies with their feet. I believe Gov. Perry enjoys the support of far and away the vast majority of Texans.
Andrew, your point is correct in that none of those cities have 100% support for the Progressives governing them, but I suspect in my gut, that the 52% figure is pretty low. I'd be surprised if they didn't hold something close to a 60/40 edge. As PND points out, there's been a flight out of the cities to the suburbs. That's where the majority of our shooters, hunters and fishermen live. They have the money to get a lease, maybe a lake or hunting place or a boat. They're probably 60+/40- for the "right".

The issue that we are facing here in Texas is that with un-restrained illegal immigration and the "government" seeking a "pathway to citizenship" for the lawbreakers already here, the right leaning or flat out right wing voter is going to get overwhelmed and we'll be looking at NY style laws rammed down our throats by the "government" and found "legal" by THEIR courts. Make no mistake, the next 10-15 years are going to be rough for the GOP in Texas and will show that the high-water mark for Second Amendment freedoms in Texas came in 2012.
