I have a family member who has been dealing with cardiovascular problems for a while now: quadruple bypass surgery in 1999, about 12 stents put in place at different times over the intervening years, and an endarterectomy a few years ago. The bypass surgery itself--often called a "cabbage"--has held up fine for the past 22+ years. But it's no walk in the park to have done.
