About two years later she remarried and, somehow and however unlikely, we became best friends. Her husband was more than a little suspicious, and likewise my dear and forever wife after we had started seeing each other. Now we're more like brother and sister and in-laws...but in-laws who like to hang out. Pre-COVID we'd get together at least two or three times a month, the two ladies more often. I joke that my wife likes my ex more than she likes me. Life is strange.
