baseballguy2001 wrote: Wed Jun 02, 2021 10:22 am I'm not sure I agree with your analysis. I think the whole house of cards fell because a couple of officers were seriously wounded during the execution of the search warrant. That led to the discovery that the warrant was obtained because one of the officers perjured himself. If none of the officers had been wounded, and only the homeowners killed, none of this would have seen the light of day until much later, if ever.
Had Goins not been shot by friendly fire, he would have been able to plant the drugs he had in his car in the house and it would have been big news that evening at 6 pm.
That is EXACTLY what would have happened.

Court rejects effort to block lawyers for Harding raid victims from questioning police officials
A Texas appeals court Thursday [March 26, 2020] rejected an effort by city attorneys to block lawyers for relatives of
two people killed in a deadly Houston police drug raid last year from deposing police supervisors and seeking documents
to shed light on the incident.

GOOD. I hope the depositions will allow conflicting statements to be shared and they can all go down.

No way only Goines and the other guy were the two in the loop. A so-called "good" cop that doesn't shed light on bad cops is just as disgusting to me as the bad cop.

DA finds that nearly 70 people may have been convicted on false evidence given by Gerald Goines.
He should go for life with no parole.
How many other cops knew about his actions and said nothing?

Acevedo said investigators are still determining whether the guns recovered at the couple’s home had been bought legally.
What the heck is an illegally purchased gun in Texas?

You either have the right to possess a firearm or you don't. Given that neither person murdered in this raid had a criminal history (except for a bad check case that was dismissed), it sounds like they had every right to possess as many firearms as they wanted.

Acevedo is still hunting for a reason to put forward for the raid.
Maybe if they hadn't have murdered the two, they could have just asked...

K.Mooneyham wrote: Mon Feb 18, 2019 12:54 am My goodness, what does it take to get the Rangers involved to do a proper investigation of those events? Yes, I know the scene is all messed up by now, it's been quite a while gone by. But, they could at least review all the documents, interview everyone, get all the crime scene photos, etc, and try to make some sense out of this mess. The whole thing stinks unbearably, and whatever comes of this, it shouldn't ever be repeated in Texas.
But it is repeated. Regularly. Anytime you violently and forcefully raid a non-violent suspect who hasn't even been formally charged with ANY crime, this is the level of destruction.

What makes this a big deal is the level of corruption, and the fact that since Tuttle was able to shoot several of the home invaders, the story blew up.

If none of the officers had been shot, this wouldn't have been investigated or publicly followed.
If Goines had the chance to plant the 'undeclared' heroin, this wouldn't have been investigated or publicly followed.
If Tuttle hadn't resisted (just falsely arrested and charged), this wouldn't have been investigated or publicly followed.
If the body cam evidence was successfully buried, this wouldn't have been investigated or publicly followed.
If the department had been able to pressure a CI to claim responsibility, this wouldn't have been investigated or publicly followed.
If they had brought along empty baggies and a pistol, this wouldn't have been investigated or publicly followed.

You don't think plants don't happen ALL THE TIME? Its a war man, think like you would think in a war.

Whats sad is that this is a regular occurrence. Only "1% of cops are the bad ones" argument doesn't pan out because the other 99% won't testify against the 1 to clean out the filth. The few times it has happened, the officer that testified was fired or reprimanded. "If you betray us, you are with them".

Pretty obvious. They lied to keep the blue oath of silence... When it looked like it wasn't working, the Union Rep escalated.

bad all around
Yes it is a bad situation all around.
At least there has been some progress towards finding out what actually happened.
Now I am wondering about the "whys".
It does, at least, seem to have hit a crest where it can no longer be buried. That is a relief, but it likely won't change the fact that the 4th amendment has been gutted.

Link? Especially on the "Don't recall discussing heroin"...

Re: 5 Officers Shot In Houston - Pray

Per the press conference - They were not wearing uniforms.

So ya, five people (not even dressed as police) busted down your front door for the suspicion of non-violent crimes, and when you tried to stop them, they killed you. Fortunately, there was a patrol car out front so that the victims would know it was police and that car "announced police presence", because, ya know, you can totally tell whats going on outside while your door is being kicked in.

This is disgusting.

What happened to the presumption of innocence?

striker55 wrote: Mon Feb 04, 2019 3:43 pm Is there an investigation?
No... And if there was at this point it wouldn't matter. They have had time to plant evidence, no body cams, and have been able to compare notes and get a false narrative aligned. I'm still convinced they hit the wrong house. I don't think the narcotics officers actually witnessed the buyer entering the house. I think the buyer verbally said Hardy and it was heard as Harding, or the person preparing the warrant request heard harding... Hence the italics around "7815 Harding St" and not the rest of the document or address. The warrant is LITERALLY written as "7815 Harding St" Houston, Tx. I think whomever wrote the warrant request got on street view and looked up the details of Harding Street, hence the accurate description below. Why would you write "7815 clearly legible" in one area of the warrant, and a full description of brown house, tan trim, etc later on in the warrant?

Warrant is still up here: https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/h ... 574924.php

Warrant has been removed from Scrib'd when you open it in a browser.... Wonder why. https://www.scribd.com/document/3985915 ... from_embed

Internet Cache still works.

At this point, an investigation would be useless. The error could have been made at any level of the organization internally, and was probably an unintentional mistake. Either way, two apparently innocent people are dead. As they are dead they will be assumed guilty and the home invaders will suffer no recourse.

Re: 5 Officers Shot In Houston - Pray

Oh... And just to add to this.
Marvin Guy is still in jail. That botched raid occurred in 2014. He has not had a trial yet.

Last I checked the 6th amendment was still part of the constitution...
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.

Re: 5 Officers Shot In Houston - Pray

What we know:

1) No large quantities of drugs were found. Small drugs could have been planted. White powder remains unidentified... somehow.
2) The warrant was executed specifically due to heroin (page 3 of the warrant) and did not mention other drugs.
3) No body cams were used. If there were any body cams, then they were destroyed.
4) The warrant says that the Narcotics officer SPECIFICALLY saw the drug mule... I mean compliant witness, enter this specific residence (page 4 of the warrant) and come out with narcotics. And yet, throughout the warrant "7815 Harding Street" is found in quotations... (Not sure if thats normal but certainly seems unusual... See attached image).
5) The warrant specifically mentions a 9mm caliber semi-auto. None was present in the raided house.
6) Acevedo said "Hardy" instead of "Harding" several times in the press conference.
7) Friends and family all state that the victims were not involved in drugs.
8) Neighbors say there was no traffic at that location, which is a primary evidence of drug trade.
9) No photos have been released of what the officers were wearing that night, and if they had police identifiers on their uniforms.
10) No other law enforcement body has stated they are investigating the raid.

Per the warrant:
"I further find that affiant has established sufficient reason to believe that to knock and announce their purpose by the officers executing this warrant would be futile, dangerous, and otherwise inhibit the effective investigation of the offense or offenses related to the purpose of this warrant. Therefore, unless circumstances to the contrary are discovered prior to entry, you are hereby authorized to dispense with the usual constitutional requirement that you knock and announce your purpose before entering the suspected place to execute this warrant"
https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/h ... 574924.php
FYI - I added one word to clarify what the warrant SHOULD have said...

https://reason.com/blog/2019/01/30/the- ... n-this-wee

These two people were murdered.
