Re: Why did the Secret Service anti sniper wait until the sniper fired to kill him? Needed permission?Rules of engagemen

Here is another video of the movement done in 3d animation. Shows where the bullet would have landed without the head movement.

Sorry for posting to reddit, but this videos well done. Also note, it's about 3/4 speed, hence the audio. That means at the trigger break, it was only off-center by about 1" at 150yrds.

Warning, language on forum name.

Also important to note, the counter snipers were set up where they were blind to the shooters position and advance. Who knew where the counter snipers were going to be? Definitely not the 20 year old kid.

So the shooter didn't miss. Trump turned his head EXACTLY as the trigger was pressed (think of the 3/4 sec shot break to impact delay). Yes that's a miss because of movement, but only barely.

See this video for timing of head movement vs the shot. He barely survived by the grace of God.

First 8 seconds.

And protectees OFTEN wear rifle rated soft armor for public events so upper center mass is a no go in their eyes.

See attached photo for the head angle:

Note, the quarter profile and the straight on head positions were barely a second apart. Even an experienced sniper could have missed that due to the suddenness of the movement.

The real questions are 1. How did he know to go to THAT EXACT ROOFTOP
2. Why was the outer perimeter so close in, normally it's way farther out
3. Why was that roof not secured and the shooter knew to go there
4. Why did no one act sooner?

It is possible that they believed the shooter was from the Secret Service or another agency based on his position (It's a position I would have assigned a team to, even if it was just to secure the location, if I was in charge of security).
If you watch the snipe video, it also looks like he has to look through a tree and move his rifle tripod in order to get a shot. Sounds like the guy stayed out of their direct line of sight.
