So I work with them a bit and let me say they've made some changes.Jose_in_Dallas wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 11:14 pm I think there might be confusion about what you are and are thinking. I'm talking about a manufacturers auto show and not a car show put together with local cars. The auto show that the Texas State Fair is pretty big. I've driven a diesel Nissan Titan on a test track put together by Nissan one year. I was driven around a test track in a Dodge supercharged TRX by a driver. I played around on a Dodge Viper video simulator. Doubt the East Texas State Fair can match this.
Their new location is 310 acres with access from Hwy 31, Hwy 64 and Patton Lane. They're already planning and building a livestock show center, holding, and an outdoor amphitheater big enough to host actual concerts (since Tyler has no great options that are available, Cowan center is not reservable for most entities). They're also planning a 35,000+/- sq.ft. expo center and I'm trying to talk them into expanding that into a conference center and selling off the southeast corner to a hotel so Tyler can have a proper Conference Center with hotel attached.
They've got enough space but need the input now so that their 10 year / 20 year expansion plans can incorporate everything.
They have PLENTY of space to do a 1/4 mile or longer drive track or longer if its a bit twisty.
Worth looking up what they're doing. Considering this last fair they only had 4 months worth of prep time for, they've done an awesome job.
