Re: County Sheriff's Office

I dropped by the office today to wish him a great retirement only to find two generic handgun in a red circle with a red line through it signs on the main entrance doors. No 30-06 or 30-07, as are posted on our county courthouse but still enough to stop me from entering. While the signs have no force of law, to my knowledge, a Sheriff's Office is probably not the place to begin the discussion while armed. Our county is quite conservative and the Sheriff is a big supporter of 2nd Amendment rights just evidently not in his office or courthouse. I have known this man for all of my 70 years on earth and will be seeing him around before long and even though he will be retired will find out what exactly was going through his mind to post these things or if the new appointed Sheriff had got started on changes early.
IF the man were my friend I'd have the talk with him ASAP before he retires. Something is very wrong when those who are sworn by oath to uphold and support our constitutions (state and federal) and fairly and impartially enforce the laws written under same make a conscious choice not to.

If he's unaware of the laws it's well past time he retires and he needs to be set straight as soon as reasonably possible.
