All my stuff submitted January 18, 2018... plastic in hand March 2, 2018.
And not a moment too soon, apparently. Less than 24 hours ago, yet another neighbor wrote a scathing report on social media about her family member being trapped in a personal vehicle until yet another loose pit bull wandered away from their property, this being the FIFTH reported dangerous dog incident in our subdivision in the past couple of weeks, a string of canine crime which started with law enforcement having to shoot an attacking pit bull to death a few hundred feet from my house (original thread - https://www.texaschlforum.com/viewtopic ... 08&t=91426).

Re: "Waiting Room"
Aimee did you check your status today? We submitted within one day of each other, and mine just went "print pending".

Re: "Waiting Room"
FWIW, my husband suspects that you are correct in your previous suspicion – that those of us with prior background checks take longer because DPS might have to order in copies of those reports from other agencies, which might take their sweet time to deliver.aimeerouton wrote:Wow! You guys definitely seem to be getting them in faster than mine. I’m still pending on my background check. 37 days since I’ve submitted everything!

Re: "Waiting Room"
I had ONE traffic ticket 14-ish years ago which was not entered into my record because I went through the process (drivers education course, etc.). It did not impact my car insurance rates in any way. That's my only potential appearance in the public records of an enforcement nature.
I did file an amicus brief on a civil lawsuit about 2 years ago, in support of one of the parties. Then later I wondered if maybe the other party to the suit had done anything in retaliation for my action. Like maybe filed a false complaint of some kind with a law enforcement agency, or something like that?
So I asked my husband, "How would I research whether or not something like that did occur?" And he said, "It's basically impossible."
FWIW.

Re: "Waiting Room"
My stuff was all submitted 01/18 and still no movement on the background check. I have a 100% clean record and an existing TWIC (a TSA credential which requires a background check).aimeerouton wrote:Class: 01/13

Still waiting on background check.
I should note - clean background, no arrests, born & raised in TX....numerous FBI background checks that didn’t even take this long? Curious...
I wonder if we just happened to be two of those who ended up on a slow reviewer’s desk?
Or, your username appears as if it might be female. Maybe they take longer to review us girls (which would be an absurdity).

Re: "Waiting Room"
^^ Well, yeah, there's that, too. I bought a new S&W a few weeks ago, and the background check took about 45 seconds.

Re: "Waiting Room"
It makes no sense. I have two current background checks with federal agencies. And a 100% clean record. I haven't even had a speeding ticket in the past 13 years.

Re: "Waiting Room"
Obviously they are not going in order received, even for foreign-born citizens. I submitted all of my stuff 18 days before this most recent poster, and I'm still stuck at the "background" stage.

Re: "Waiting Room"
All of my required stuff was submitted on January 18, 2018. The application sat without obvious activity until today, January 26, when it began showing green checks on the first ten listed items, and background check in progress.
