Don2 wrote: Since I put all the insulation in the shop...I have not put an A/C in yet( I can buy one, just have not ) Its almost ok with just a fan.

I caulked all cracks, placed thick plastic sheet in the walls, then fiberglass ins, then another sheet of plastic, then 3 layers of 15# tar paper, then 3/4" foam board (R-5) I think, then 1/2" OSB and more caulking after the foam ins, and after the OSB.
I THINK its about there :headscratch ( Oops..missed another plastic layer somewhere, 3 layers total of plastic. )
Would have put spray in insulation, but ran out of money..!!!

It's like you dress up in layers when cold is better than one thick layer????? ( I think? ) No..its very good so far.

12' x 35' used a lot of material........OUCH..!!!
But its my hobby, what can I say? Even the Wife was OK with it. ( Keeps me out of her hair )

Don2

Ps.
Yep...The scales HATE fans too..!

Gee, Don, it sounds like with all the vapor barriers and insulation you could turn your shop into a meat locker with just a little bit larger a/c unit.
That would be perfect if you're a big time hunter!! Dress 'em out, store 'em and reload for more all in the same room. :smilelol5:

Syntyr wrote:Well it's not my reloading area yet but I am working towards it. I have my workbench setup and now I need to mount and setup all of my equipment. Finally after 2 years in the new house!!!
Now if you got any money left over...you can make it where you don't sweat to death in the coming months.
( I KNOW what I'm talking about. Was born in Houston and lived there until 14 years ago !! )
I'm sure its still very muggy there in the summer ;-)

The 3/4" foam 4x8 insulation panels at HomeDepot work very well. I added them to my walls in my shop here and helped a lot.

Have fun
Don2

Fiberglass insulation in rolls for the walls also works wonderfully well and if you put 4" of it in the walls and celing a small 6400 BTU window air conditioner will keep the garage in the mid 70's all summer long. At least mine does. :anamatedbanana Best of all it stops anything in the garage from rusting and down here in Seabrook that's important!! :thumbs2:

What I call a bench is a stool seated in front of a large pile of things... table is somewhere underneath it all.

Then you would love mine. LOL What "covers" it depends on the last 3 projects I have done or the stuff my wife wants out of the house. She piles it on my little work space knowing I have to move it to work. :banghead: "rlol"
WoW...Sounds kinda like my bench's..!!!
I have a commercial meat slicer that I am rebuilding for HER, plus a surface planer I am replacing the knives on, plus a computer I am working on...Dang meat slicer is all METRIC...That sucks..!!!!

And YES...I have a pile also of stuff that was in the house she "Asked" me to do something with, which is code for putting it in my shop..!!!

I'm having fun !!!
Don2
I'm in the same boat. It doesn't matter what I want to do in the shop I have to move at least 16 things just to get started.
When I used to work for a living I had a sign in my office that said, "A neat desk is the sign of a sick mind." Some people clapped, some threw money but most just said, "WOW". ;-)

Re: Pics of your reloading area

:clapping: Great looking bench. That ought to last a lifetime!!

+1 on fastening to the wall. I had to do the same thing when I built my bench. Free standing is just too wobbley.

Re: Pics of your reloading area

Yeah, My "play room" hasn't seen a vacuum cleaner in a few years either although I've been known to broom up some of the messier goof ups. :cheers2:

You might also think about loose primers!! Because no matter how hard you try you WILL at some point in time drop a couple or more live ones on the floor. With some thin or "outdoor" carpets this is generally not a problem but in a "shag" or deep pile carpet it can be a serious Uh-Oh.

I'm not sure how you'd solve this outside of getting rid of the carpet sooner rather than later.

Just my 2c.

Came across this a few pages back and found it interesting as I'm thinking about getting started. Mrs. RAM and I had a conversation about reloading, and she seems to thing that I should have it confined to the garage. I disagree as we don't have any kids but live in a four bedroom. I have my own room with my clothes, desk, and gun safe, so why not set up a reloading station in there? It's not like I'm trying to encraoch on one of the "guest" rooms one of which doubles as her hobby room. I tend to be pretty persuasive with here and I think that I'll get her to come around. My only concern is I'm almost positive that jewlry will be involved in the persuasion process. "rlol"
Reminds me of a "solution" a friend of mine used. He went out to one of the re-sale shops and bought an "antique" double door tall cabinet, carved wood on the front, you know the kind. Then he reenforced the inside with 2X4's and a doubled 3/4" plywood shelf at the right bench height. He put a flourscent light in the top and little shelves up the back inside for die sets, scale & etc. With the doors closed you'd never know this wasn't just another piece of antique furnature in a neat and tidy home office. Open the doors and he is instantly ready for reloading. Best of all he doesn't have to sweat it out in the garage.
