I observed where someone mentioned a warning shot? WHY? Your gun should not break leather unless you feel your life is in danger. If your life is in danger then you shoot to neutralize the threat. Forget the warning shot. that is the dumbest thing one can do.
Practice with your weapon regularly, don't let the only time you shoot your gun be at the CHL requalification. May as well use for a paperweight if that is all you are going to do.
One more pet peeve, (going into this since I think you said you were new), Don't ask about hypothetical scenarios, practice what you will do. No one knows how they will react in a certain situation until they are in it. If you practice scenarios you are more likely to react the way you train.

Avoid the John Wayne mentality. You aren't John Wayne. Keep in mind in most situations you might find yourself in, being a good witness will be the best thing you can do.
