As far as the wolf ammo the lacquer coated stuff was supposed to cause problems in ar's and i believe that some companies recommended you not shoot it in their ar's then they came out with polymer coated cases which chambered and extracted better and didn't leave a film

It sounds more like the bolt was not fully closed and when the hammer struck the firing pin the firing pin would not strike the primer,sounds like case length or resizing issue as long as the chamber wasn't cruddy.just my 2 cents as i have had that same thing happen
