I said your dog has to be on a leash, he tells me we will have a problem if I don't get off his property, I'm still in my car in the middle of the street. I told him it's a public road, I reached for my phone to take a picture of the loose dog. Left the phone in the house, she tells me first it doesn't need a leash on her property and then says it's a different dog. I told them I'm calling animal control and went home to get my phone. Go back down the street and the dog was by their garage between their cars and the guy stands so I couldn't get a picture. I had my wife call animal control. A couple hours later a sheriff comes to my house telling me to stop harassing them. The only reason I saw the dog in the first place was because the guy was standing in his driveway with his arms extended straight up as if to say "what are you going to do". They tried to tell the sheriff I'm the bad guy. Of course I had no picture of the dog so it's my word against their word. Sheriff tells me to avoid them, but I'm thinking they are the ones breaking the law.
1. Where in the law is what you say?
2. A pit bull isn’t necessarily a dangerous dog. Did it attack you or you know of documented attacks?
3. Does the law apply to personal property (yard)?
4. Did you quote the law to the sheriff? What was his response to the law?
Obviously you didn't read the previous post's, it's all explained previously. I did take the dog and owners to court. The judge declared the dog dangerous, the owners think they are above the law and can do what they want. I'm the bad guy for harassing them for defying the law.

We have a doorbell camera at the door, and several self-installed cameras on the house. Both have proved helpful.
Yes I have both a doorbell Cam and spotlight cam over the garage, if the dog gets in my front yard again it will be recorded. And the consequences recorded.

Re: Irresponsible dog owner

That sucks big time, we thought they would bring in friends to say the dog was friendly and show pictures of their child with the dog in front of a Christmas tree. Hope we don't have to go back for an appeal, one neighbor who was chased and testified has already sold their house and moved.

I installed a Ring camera over my garage and the neighbor who had the flag torn down I installed a Ring camera for him, but a day late for the flag.

Re: Irresponsible dog owner

So now that the irresponsible owner has been slapped with a dangerous dog judgement by the judge he is being a petty nuisance to his neighbor's. Can't prove it but someone ripped an American flag and pole from his next door neighbor house. We live on a cup de sac, never any trouble until 2 days after the hearing. IO is now parking 2 of his vehicles, leaving empty spaces in his driveway, in front of the same neighbor's house (one of those vehicles has had paper plates since he bought it about a year ago). This guy is ruining the neighborhood, one neighbor is already put their house on the market. IO likes to stare down neighbor's who appeared in court against him.

So just what does that mean? i.e. We already knew that it is dangerous.
Dangerous dog license $50
100,000 liability insurance
Neutered
Secure enclosure to be approved by animal control
A sign on your house
Chipped

All has to be done before the dog can be released, dog has been impounded since I was granted a hearing. Plus they pay the impound fees.

Re: Irresponsible dog owner

Went to see a judge today he agreed to impound the dog and have a hearing. First thing he asked "did anyone get bit?". Why does someone have to be malled before something is done? Hopefully the hearing will go in our favor then I'll have to deal with the unfriendly neighbor.

The owner of the dog have a three year old living in the home, what about protecting him? These owners have no sense.

Re: Irresponsible dog owner

That's sad chasfm11, all the occurrences on our street the same response from law enforcement is "no one got bit". What will it take for action, someone to get malled? I have letters from neighbors to submit to the judge along with pictures and a video I'm hoping something can be done before damage is done.

Re: Irresponsible dog owner

This dog owner and his dog has put a strain in our neighborhood. I believe he is breeding dogs but have no proof, which is against HOA rules.

I yelled at him "2 more seconds I would have shot your dog" he yells back "and I'll shoot you".
Your statement is a warning that you will defend yourself against his aggressive dog with deadly force if necessary. His statement is a threat of deadly force against you personally, and sounds like a threat of aggravated assault at minimum, and homicide at worst. Did you tell the nice officer about this verbal exchange? If there were witnesses to it, it would seem to me to be an offense worthy of arrest. If his dog were a sweet little puppy that never attacked anyone, that would be one thing. But his dog is in fact a dangerously aggressive animal, and it is a matter of time until it savages someone, maybe even kills someone.

My wife and I saw a similar story on the news just a day or two ago, involving a pitbull that keeps getting loose and terrorizing a neighborhood somewhere in Dallas. That dog actually did bite some children, chased other people, and trapped another neighbor up on top of his car. Lots of pictures taken by neighbors. In that case, nobody was sure who the owner was, or what home it belonged to. I would shoot a dog like this if necessary, and without remorse..... and to hell with the owner. One problem at a time. You can't let fear of what the owner might do, stop you from doing what you must to protect yourself or your family from his lack of responsibility or lack of a moral center.
Yes I told the deputy he said that and they asked the guy who was trapped on his trailer questions but it was in Spanish, don't know if the trapped neighbor heard the verbal exchange or maybe wanted to stay out of it. I suppose I could have demanded the owner of the dog be arrested for threatening me but I let it go.

It will more importantly help you when the dog's owner decides to continue being a less than savory individual.
I have a Ring spotlight camera coming, ordered one on Saturday.
