Re: Highway patrol gave feds Missouri weapon permits data

And this is a status update on the bill and law that is being passed in Missouri to prevent that from happening again. This is a portion of an article is by a friend of mine who is the State Rep that authored the bill.
License issue resolution soon
We have had a very busy last few weeks with the budget front and center while discussions involving the Medicaid Expansion and 2nd Amendment issues continued.

Department of Revenue
This issue has been discussed at length in here in the state Capitol in the wake of the lawsuit that challenges the department's new policy. As you may know, the lawsuit was filed by Stoddard County resident Eric Griffin after he was told his birth certificate and other residency documents had to be scanned into the department's system. This new policy has angered both citizens and my fellow legislators, who have serious concerns that the state revenue department may pass along this information to the federal government.

Before our legislative spring break, officials from the department came to the state Capitol to answer questions about how the private information of Missouri citizens is being handled. After the hearing, many of us felt like additional safeguards must be put in place to protect Missouri citizens. To that end, we have seen numerous bills filed to prevent the revenue department from scanning and sharing information that could be used to create a federal gun owner database.

Already, the Speaker of the House has fast tracked my bill through the legislative process. This bill, HB 787, is meant to ensure that the private information of Missouri citizens remains private. Specifically, it prohibits the department from scanning personal information and submitting it to an out-of-state database. You can be certain that I will continue the fight to not allow your privacy or your Second Amendment rights to be violated! We will see a resolution to this matter this legislative session and I'm sure the final outcome will be one that is appreciated by all law-abiding gun owners in Missouri. I will do my best to keep you informed on this important issue.

As you may have heard, many businesses involved with the manufacturing of guns and ammunition are seeking to leave their current states due to recent overregulation. I think it is very important our State leaders reach out to these businesses and invite them to come tour our state and area.

Re: Highway patrol gave feds Missouri weapon permits data

There are several state representatives, including a friend of mine, that have filed suit against the Department of Revenue for keeping improper data and releasing information they shouldn't have. http://www.ksdk.com/news/local/story.as ... yid=366950" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
