I have to wonder ... was he an informant? Or being a good citizen, at least when he made the contact?
It was a drug buy sting. This dead guy had contacted an undercover officer and was meeting him to buy drugs from the undercover officer. When they went arrest the guy for trying to buy drugs, the detective (not sure if the same officer the guy was gonna buy drugs from or a different one) put the gun on the suspect and it discharged when he attempted to activate the weapon light.

No, but the pressure switch on this model was mounted just below the trigger guard. See this article http://www.allenamerican.com/articles/2 ... s/8405.txt" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think the fact that you have to squeeze the grip to activate the light is a problem. If you are a police officer and have your finger on the trigger, then the simple tightening of your hand will cause you to also tighten your trigger finger. Do this under a stressful encounter and you are asking for a ND.

Re: Plano: Unarmed man accidentally shot by police

I guess the family figured they need more money. They already got a $245,000 settlement from the city of Plano http://www.dallasnews.com/news/communit ... -sting.ece" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Must not have been enough of a windfall to offset their son's death because he was dealing drugs in the first place. :banghead:

Re: Plano: Unarmed man accidentally shot by police

:iagree: And, if you watch any of the shows where they have a good gun wrangler (trainer for the actors) then you will also see them use this method. I am a BIG fan of NCIS and you will see them handling their firearms correctly. Castle is another one I have noticed they do right. :thumbs2:
