I think you were just picked out at random to check. And you might have been profiled in the aspect of they may have had a BOLO out for a similar model or color of car, and you fit the profile. This is a very common reason for stopping a seemingly random vehicle that was not breaking the law. And once stopped, they may or may not tell you the real reason you were stopped if they don't want to tip their hand about what is up in case you ARE the one they are looking for. Been there, done that. Sometimes it paid off, sometimes it didn't.
