That is the difference in a high pressure round (40 ca at max ~32,600psi) vs a lower pressure round like the .45 (21,000 psi max.) I carry the PM40, its a mean one to master. Not much of a grip for my large hands and kicks like a mule. It took a few weeks to finally feel as comfortable with it as I do with my XD45.
I thought my .40 kicked, I bet that .45 does for sure.
