So I called this morning and she told me they have 180 days to do a background check. She also told me that I was supposed to send in my own background from an a hiccup in 1993 from the police department in Mississippi where I had the incident. Funny, I don't remember seeing anything about any of this. She mentioned that they are not requesting anymore information from me for my application so where does this 180 days come into play? They received my full application on November 18 2016 and that I've been in background review since December 6 2016.

I'll have my Arizona permit before a Texas permit. I guess the great state of Texas isn't as free and conservative loving as I thought.

I got the same run around about a misdemeanor wqy back when, and because of it they basically put it on hold for as long as possible. The lady blamed the fbi background check, which is probably bull since it was a texas thing. Arizona packet is in the mail already headed my way.

Did Texas DPS ask for this misdemeanor info? Our timelines are near identical but they haven't requested any further background information.

I took my class with my brother and his wife and they received theirs both exactly a week later. I put in a call last week to the dps just to make sure everything was good and wasn't missing anything and she told me no this process can go fast or sloooooow.

From what I've seen on my side you have just begun the wait. I read all the stories on here. Everyone watches that pot and it rarely boils until you're sick of staring at it. Not expecting mine until after the new year, we will see what happens. I do hope it goes fast for you! Happy new year!

Did you take your LTC at Guns Plus by chance? Lol. Doubt that has anything to do with it but you never know.

I found out something interesting when i spoke with the lady in the Handgun Licensing division. She looked up my TX drivers license number, and said that my application didn't go into 'review' until December 6th, but all of my paperwork was submitted on November 22nd. So I've been 'counting down' from the November date, which now with this information I have to start my countdown for approval from the 6th of December. Wonky stuff huh? Anyhow, with this new info I'm certain it will be after Christmas, most likely after New Years before I receive anything. The water on the stove will just sit there, I'm not going to watch it anymore until after the holidays!

11/22 - Submitted all documents electronically
11/22 - Received 'receipt' notification from DPS
The wait begins
as of 12/14 my fingerprints are under review, my background check is under review.

Is this 'under review' status of my prints something to be concerned about? Should I call them?
