Re: Sb1588 to eliminate most vehicle inspections
So how is it I can't get my license registration renewed unless I provide proof I've had my vehicle inspected and insurance?
Oh right, all the inspectors are crooked and insurance is a scam. Right. Yes. I know some scam the insurance with a single payment for the card and they too should serve time. Preferably, breaking rocks and wearing funny clothes...chained to each other with armed guards on horse back wearing mirror shades as per "cool Hand Luke" with a warden like Strother Martin, who uttered the memorable, 'what we've got here is a failure to communicate..."
Sure, some might be scammers, but my opinion is if you're caught with a bogus inspection and/or no insurance, you and the inspector ought to do time...could happen if law was enforced.
I want as many rattle/death trap smog producers off the road as is possible.
I've spent a lot of time in 3rd world places with their horrible, carbon monoxide spewing, brake faulty, etc., vehicles.
I want us to be a better place to live.
Oh, but I'm poor and need my smoking wreck of a hoopty to get to McDonalds.
Walk, lardo...or get a junky bike or a better job or an education loser.
Rant off!

Re: Sb1588 to eliminate most vehicle inspections
der Teufel,
Think: Austin - Houston - Dallas - ok, enough.
I won't give in to leftist nonsense.
Perhaps, we should all give up auto insurance, claim, it's like expensive man, and hey, you hit me, and my response: doesn't matter, the cops don't care, so why should I...? They won't do anything, so quit bothering me, I gotta a joint to smoke...

Re: Sb1588 to eliminate most vehicle inspections
rotor,
Had you been an illegal he'd of let you go without further ado...only citizens get tickets.
If such a similar thing happens in the future, try speaking like Steve Martin, that wild and crazy guy.
Perhaps you won't pass as an obvious illegal, but you could adopt a faux-Moldovian accent and tell him you just arrived from the old country, 'wink wink', the hard way...across the Rio Grande and he'd probably just sigh and tell you to be on your way...sans ticket.
Why not?
It happens every day all across the country.

carlson 1,
I hear ya.
And, not all young people are without ethics or effort as my two Granddaughters are a testament to.
There are dead beats in every generation and great people in every generation.
Our military is made up of a lots of fantastic, hard working, ethical, goal oriented young people.
I do wonder and have no way of knowing, but I'll bet more farm and ranch kids are the most ethical and law abiding young people versus suburban and urban. Though I could be completely wrong about that, but I doubt it...

Re: Sb1588 to eliminate most vehicle inspections
steveincowtown ,
I'm am denser than usual, I don't I understand you're point.
Are you saying, if someone pays for what's called 'uninsured motorist coverage' or something akin to that, like in my posted experience of an illegal crashing into me, my coverage shouldn't exist?
If so, I'm baffled.
Please, clue me in.
Thanks!

Re: Sb1588 to eliminate most vehicle inspections
carlson 1,
Is she an illegal alien?
I had one crash into me years ago, no license, no insurance and when I finally, after much effort, got L.E. to respond they just let him go - no ticket, no nothing.
My insurance company eventually paid for the damage to my vehicle and the miserable, "I get out of being responsible because such things like insurance and being licensed are of no importance to me, why should I - L.E. lets me break the law with impunity whenever I care to"
She should be locked up! Why does she get to break the law? People like her burn me up!
Only the law abiding in the U.S. are punished, as in my insurance premiums went up and I was lucky I wasn't injured by the illegal that t-boned me because he ran a stop sign due to his extremely, well, non-existent driving skills.

Re: Sb1588 to eliminate most vehicle inspections
I do wonder what percentage are like me and do get their vehicles inspected vs. those who scoff and don't comply.
Anytime, I've been in a 3rd country, and that adds up to a lot of time, the junkers and smog is terrible.
Far worse than here.
I think, but how can I be certain, that state inspections do at least some good, but then I use to believe in the tooth fairy, so what do I know...?

Silly me, I've always gotten my vehicle inspected properly.
I had no idea it's optional...
