I'm not offended.

I fully appreciate your sense of resignation.

I was making an observation over my life as I've experienced political ups and downs. That is, no party stays in power into perpetuity.

Has the balance swung so far left that self-correction (over time) can't be achieved?

I certainly hope not, but we can't give in to despair and just throw in the towel.

Not being a Pollyanna, just bearing it.

Head up - forge on.

The party in power is cyclical.

Don't despair, Democrats will eventually lose.

And then, win. And then lose.

So it goes...

You just have to gut it out until the electorate is so fed up with their loopy ideas they come around...until next time.

And, I'm sure in the past when Democrats had the reins in their teeth conservatives thought it was the end.

It isn't.

There's hope.

Michigan has just been dealt a once-unthinkable defeat to organized labor - A right to work law passed just this past Tuesday.

The Democrats don't completely own this country.

Please summarize your ideal world for Citizen Joe Everyman.

Would it be, free for the asking: Healthcare, housing, food, what?

Those willing to work mandatorily placed in a union?

I'm just batting around a few ideas. How far off base am I?

That said, do you really believe Greece is the country we should model ourselves after?

Cuba?

How many failing countries have to crash before true believers finally recognize that socialism (and it's variants) simply doesn't, in the long run, work?

At the risk of being accused of thread napping, I too am a cat fancier. Well, that's a bit of a stretch, I found two of them on the road (one, squashed by a car, but still alive) and the third at a rescue shelter. How can they be ignored and let die?

I hold no rancor, even when I think the other party is off course. I think you're probably a fun guy to know, even if you're politically wrong. (I couldn't help it)

A simple explanation: They're minorities who happen to be conservatives. They aren't bigots who strive to keep down their fellow minorities. Quite the opposite. True enough, they're mostly college graduates, but you shouldn't hold that against them.

They're made up of small business owners and corporate management. They're successful. They worked hard to be so. They're saddened and embarrassed by those with their hands out, begging for so-called entitlements. You know, the stuff limousine liberals are only to happy to hand out as it helps assuage their group guilt. And why not, it's not their money...

How too, do you categorize Independents?

Yes, I'm a conservative, but I'm an Independent.

One, who (gasp) in the last election voted for two regional Democrats.

How then do you explain: Many of my fellow conservative friends/acquaintances are minorities, i.e., brown, black, Asian, etc.?

There's that liberal code word again: RETROGRESSIVE - a word liberals can define in any way they care to...

Obviously, this screed WAS aimed at conservatives - tongue sticking out/thumb firmly planted on nose and fingers waving.

You can call it humor, you can call it many things, but (to use the circumlocution) it is what it is and humor doesn't factor into this steaming pile...

I read it down to the 'penultimate paragraph'.

Rather than humorous, I found it stale.

The propagandist Dowd doesn't generate much sway with me. Her drivel is just that...

I also recognize she's a darling of the liberal set.
