Re: Toys R Us Policy

Is TRU/BRU a hipster/sustainable/green yupster type place?

If so, I wouldn't go there if they welcomed CHLers...

Or, is it a home brewer beer supply store?

Or...?

Re: Toys R Us Policy

Many of the stores like Toys etc. are heading for extinction. Online sales is slowly killing many retail stores.

Although, I do love going to Walmart, no 30.06 restriction there...hate to ever see them go the way of the buffalo...

Re: Toys R Us Policy

Hoi Polloi,

Weeeeeeeel, your post is a bit discursive for my plodding self...

"some people try to get the movement to succeed through right- or left-leaning policies" what I meant was hands-off, free market, etc for the right and hands-on governmental involvement for the left."

Doesn't that rather summarize the basic tenets of the right vs. left irrespective of subject?

"Neither is due to sustainability or fair trade in the first place, though."

I'm afraid I'm too obtuse to understand how this statement fits into the context or even what it means...?

Re: Toys R Us Policy

"Please forgive my rant - it's directed at you personally."

Arrrggghhh - That was supposed to read "Not" directed at you personally.

Sorry!

Re: Toys R Us Policy

Hoi Polloi,

I'd like to be able to say "Yes", but sadly no, it doesn't make sense to me as enforcing such policies wouldn't in my estimation be either right or left - it would be left...

I don't think anyone on the right is anti small farmer wherever he may exist. Most especially those conservatives I know who came from small farming backgrounds... At the same time, if such practices as "Fair Trade" are made policy, what then started out as noble would have a fair chance of evolving into something monstrous if leftists are in charge.

For reasons beyond my ken, leftists absurdly seem to think stewardship of the environment is exclusively their domain as if conservatives couldn't care less what they breathe in or if their water is clean, etc.

Please forgive my rant - it's directed at you personally.

It's just that whenever I happen across what sounds sanctimoniously leftist, I get dyspeptic...

Re: Toys R Us Policy

Hoi Polloi,

Your comprehensive answer is appreciated.

Would I be correct in assuming terms like Sustainable Crops and Fair Trade are leftist in origin?

Re: Toys R Us Policy

Hoi Polloi,

Thanks!

Could you elaborate on sustainable crops?

I still find the term more than a little ambiguous. If crops are properly planted/harvested and fields taken care of in between - isn't that a form of sustainability? Or, is the term "sustainable crops" more narrowly defined?

Would I be wrong in declaring "Fair-trade agreements" a type of price fixing?

Re: Toys R Us Policy

What are ya'll talking about?

I haven't a clue as to what: "shop at small boutique stores with natural and toxic-free toys that were made from sustainable crops under fair-trade agreements"

Was this quote a bit of tongue in cheek wit? If so, color me slow...very slow.

I haven't a clue as to what natural toys are ... carrots as pistols - potatoes as hand grenades or something along those lines?

Aren't all crops sustainable ...if there's enough nutrients and water available for them?

I've yet to hear the definition of "fair-trade agreement". It doesn't ring of the free enterprise system though, but sounds ominously socialist.

Is it?

Can ya'll clear me up on these vexing questions!

Thanks!

When an invalid "No Guns" sign is posted there's no need to conform or complain.

Complaining brings it to light and it may be re-posted validly...
